Hull City form

Hull have played three games this summer to get ready for the 2024-25 campaign. They started with a 1-1 draw against Kasimpasa before losing to both Fenerbahce and Doncaster Rovers. It's true that pre-season results are not always representative of what can be expected, but leaking nine goals in two games is a concern. The Tigers have remaining friendlies against Fiorentina and Reading before the Championship opener against Bristol City on August 10. Tim Walter took charge in May and inherited a team that came seventh last time around. Hull's recent signings Giles and Drameh are set to play in the upcoming game but the squad is thin at the moment as several players left in the summer window. Jean Michael Seri could get a starting place in the XI against Newcastle, having sat on the bench in the previous game. There will be a few changes throughout the game; however, Henry Sandat is expected to start the match in attack once again.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has been strongly tipped for the England job, but his immediate focus is on preparing his Magpies for the new season. Following a slight blip in form last term, Newcastle did well to finish seventh in the Premier League, which gave them a good chance at challenging for Champions League places this term. The team will play friendlies in Japan against Urawa Red Diamonds and Yokohama F Marinos before returning to England to play warm-up games against Girona and Brest. Their Premier League campaign begins with a home fixture against Southampton on August 17. So far, this summer Newcastle has brought in four new signings—among them Lewis Hall from Chelsea—while Elliot Anderson has moved to Nottingham Forest.

Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes will not be in action for Newcastle as both are away on international duty. Meanwhile, a debut is expected to be handed to Lloyd Kelly in the defence. Joelinton, Harvey Barnes, and Alexander Isak, however, could make the cut for this Premier League outfit.
