Troyes vs Nice Prediction: The away team to win

On Sunday in Ligue 1, Troyes will play host to Nice at the Stade de I'Aube.

Being in 18th position and 10 points from safety, Troyes is now engulfed in peril. However, if they want to pull off a miracle, they will need a significant improvement in their form. They still have a chance to avoid relegation.

Meanwhile, Nice is currently in a depressing 10th place, and it now appears that they will not be qualifying for Europe this year. They've lost three straight games, including a shock defeat to Clermont last weekend, and are now off to a poor start.

Nice should still have enough to defeat Troyes.

With 12 losses and four draws in their last 16 games across all competitions, Troyes is now 10 points from safety and in danger of being eliminated from Ligue 1 after going on a terrible run of play in the second half of the season.

The home side has a notoriously horrible tendency of giving up late goals, which has cost them on several occasions in recent weeks. To avoid relegation to Ligue 2, they would require a miraculous turnaround in their remaining six games of the season.

Troyes drew Monaco at the beginning of March after leading for the duration of the game but after conceding twice late on, the game ended 2-2. Last Saturday, Troyes traveled to Nantes and believed they had won all three points when Wilson Odobert scored in injury time. However, Evan Guessand quickly matched the score, denying Troyes what may have been an important three points. 

Troyes has struggled at home all season, collecting just 12 points from 15 games on their own patch, and they now face the difficult prospect of facing off against a team that is very good on their travels.

Injury will keep Abdu Conte, a left wing-back for Troyes, from playing this wee since the 25-year-old has missed the past four games due to injury. Yasser Larouci, who started the last two games, is set to replace him.

Due to an Achilles tendon injury, striker Renaud Ripart has been out for a while and will be out for the rest of the season. Florian Tardieu has also been sidelined for a while.

Although Nice has had a very strong record away from home this season, with 24 points from 16 games and the fifth-best record in the league, it is their performance at home that has really let them down. Nice has lost the last three games at the Allianz Riviera, and they haven't had home success in Ligue 1 since defeating relegation-perilous AC Ajaccio in early February.

Nice lost to Clermont 2-1 at home in their previous match despite dominating possession and having more shots on goal than their opponents. As a result, Nice is currently ranked 10th in the standings with nothing left to play for.

Nice can boast of an excellent recent record against Troyes, winning three of the past four encounters between the two teams, including the reverse matchup earlier this season. Nevertheless, Les Aiglons will still aim to end the season strongly. Didier Digard's team has been having trouble lately, winning only two of their past five Ligue 1 games, and their run in the Europa Conference League came to an end in the quarterfinals after they were defeated 4-3 on aggregate by Basel.

With regards to injury, Alexis Beka Beka, a midfielder for Nice, is out with a hip injury, and Sofiane Diop, who has missed the past 10 games, is also no longer a contender. Given that Nicolas Pepe's injury to his knee is more recent, Terem Moffi and Gaetan Laborde should start in the attack.
