Round 25
09.03.2024
23:00
Stade Bollaert-Delelis
Lens France
Two teams at the top end of the table clash against each other and both sides are keeping a tight grip on their position on the table. RC Lens are currently 6th with 39 points and Stade Brest are 2nd with 46 points.
Lens will be hoping to build on their last win against Olympique Lyon. They had been on a very terrible run prior to that win and it was a huge relief to taste a victory after going 4 games without one. And Stade Brest have been on a better run and they are not interested in capitulating to a defeat at this stage of the season.

The RC Lens’ fans will hope that their struggles are now a thing of the past after last week's dramatic encounter with Olympique Lyon. Olympique Lyon were a rising force in the league and to defeat them in such fashion was not only a relief but a surge of confidence in the team. RC Lens have been struggling for some time and as a result, they had just 1 win, 2 defeats and 2 draws in their last 5 games in all competitions.
Taking a dive into the setup of the Lens team against Olympique Lyon, it's clear they deserved to win. Lens manager Franck Haise had the team set up in a 3-4-2-1 formation as he did in the defeat to AS Monaco a week before, and this time it paid off. The Lens players had Lyon in a tight grip and as such they took control of most parts of the game. They had 53% possession, 8 shots on target and they created 5 big chances. They also had 2 counter attacks and played 12 shots in the opponent's box.
While there's been no change to the tactics, there's been a definite improvement in the players as we can see a better response against Olympique Lyon. That's one team Franck Haise will be demanding ahead of the game against Stade Brest. He is most likely going to retain the same squad that played against Olympique Lyon last weekend. However, Elye Wahi is likely going to miss the upcoming game through injury. He was replaced by Wesley Said in the 79th minute and is most likely going to sit this one out.
Stade Brest
Stade Brest can look back at the results of the last couple of weeks and draw confidence in their abilities to keep the momentum going. It's definitely a tough job keeping the 2nd spot from teams below, but at the moment they seem to be doing an excellent job. In their last 3 games, they recorded 3 wins and now they are hoping to make it 4 in 4.
Stade Brest had their last win against Le Havre at home. Despite the result, there's a little dissatisfaction that they couldn't score more than one goal in the clash that many anticipated would be a walk in the park. Pierre Lees Melou scored the only goal of the game in the 34th minute and that was all for the remainder of the game. Stade Brest played better than the Le Havre team but it wasn't an out-of-the world performance to be honest.
Eric Roy had them line up in the 4-2-3-1 formation and they were the better side according to the statistics. They had 61% possession, 4 shots on target and they created 2 big chances. Although they had the result go their way at the end, Eric Roy will need to motivate them to play better in the coming game especially when they still have to face tougher opponents such as RC Lens.
Head to Head
According to the h2h, in the last 20 meetings, stade Brest won 9 matches while RC Lens won 7 matches and they drew 4 matches.
