Montpellier vs Auxerre Prediction: Will Auxerre finally be able to break this unfortunate streak?

Montpellier

The club recently broke their 14-match unbeaten run with a 3:2 win over Troyes, but defensive problems are evident. The attacking side is also far from perfect. Elye Wahi isn't yet at his best, while Stephy Mavididi is injured. The main center-forward is Wahbi Khazri, previously the attacking leader for Saint-Etienne, who were relegated to Ligue 2. In addition to Mavididi, defender Pedro Mendes is injured, and midfielder Sacha Delaye is out before the start of the season.

The team lost away to PSG 2:5 in the last Ligue 1 round. At first glance, the defeat looks logical, but Montpellier was still very unlucky. Only when the game came down to loss did Montpellier starts to succeed. Enzo Tchato and Wahbi Khazri each scored a goal.

Auxerre

Auxerre has spent more than ten years in Ligue 2 and has struggled to reach the top division. The club clearly needs reinforcement and is particularly active in the transfer market. M'Baye Niang and Gideon Mensah have recently joined Burgundy, with Niang twice scoring ten goals in a season in the French league. Julien Janvier, Brianne Pereira, and Benoit Costil have already been in the starting line-up for Auxerre. All three have also joined the club in the off-season. Interestingly, Costil, Niang, and Mensah recently played for Bordeaux, who were relegated to Ligue 2, and it will be interesting to see if they can help their new team avoid relegation.

Sinajoko picked up a suspension in the recent match against Angers, and Auxerre lost 2:2 in the end. Burgundians had chances to score the 3rd goal, but their performance proved disappointing. Auxerre is just one point behind in the two rounds: before the tie with Angers, they lost to Lille 1:4.

Expert Betting Tips

Montpellier had big problems before the start of the season, and it is not confident that they have been resolved in the course of the championship. Under Olivier Dall'Oglio, the team is stagnant, and a change of manager is inevitable. The Paladins could well concede three goals from Troyes in Matchday 1, although there has already been some improvement against PSG. Auxerre looks like a dark horse after ten years in Ligue 2, but they seemed pretty confident in the last round.
