West Bromwich Albion has not had an easy run of seven games without winning in the Championship since they narrowly won Plymouth Argyle 1-0 at The Hawthorns on September 21st. This is the longest time the club has gone without a win since Carlos Corberan took over as head coach in October 2022. The game against Luton on November 1st seemed to go well at first when Josh Maja scored his eighth goal of the season, but it was leveled in the second half by Tahith Chong for Luton.
West Brom are currently struggling to achieve their first win in a month, and this has catapulted them from the summit of the Championship table down to sixth place. However, they are still ahead by two points of Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, and Bristol City who are ranked ninth. The team has also not won games at The Hawthorns as early as this season; they had won only two of the six games and scored only twice.
Tom Fellows, an international with England Under-21, has been the creative spark for West Brom this season in the Championship, contributing five assists. His form caught the attention of the Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window.
West Bromwich Albion Predicted Starting XI
Palmer; Furlong, Holgate, Heggem, Styles; Molumby, Mowatt; Fellows, Swift, Grant; Maja
Burnley form
Burnley is one of the favourite contenders to win this title that it has entered in with this season. During the 2023-24 season, Burnley managed a poor finish in the Premier League at 19 and was relegated. For most of this season so far, Burnley hasn't been playing up to the mark, having managed a mere one win out of its last five matches. Against Millwall, Burnley also couldn't score; this gave Millwall an important lead from Jake Cooper that fetched all three points. Josh Brownhill and Luca Koleosho remain the only Burnley player who have scored more than once this season in the Championship. Manager Scott Parker said his team had to address some issues in the front in their game this afternoon.
As a result, Burnley sits in fourth position in the Championship table after playing 13 games, with their last three games being inconclusive. They are already three points behind Leeds United, which is in the second position, and stand six points from the first league leader Sunderland. Despite the recent loss, they remain quite successful against West Brom, as they won last January 2023, a success not unlike the one they should experience in this game. Thus, they should be waiting for such a bounce back and lift to performance level to have promotion to the Premier League at hand.
Burnley Predicted Starting XI
Trafford; Roberts, Egan-Riley, Esteve, Humphreys; Brownhill, Cullen; Koleosho, Sarmiento, Anthony; Rodriguez
West Bromwich Albion v Burnley Expert Picks
After a few unconvincing draws, we still believe that West Brom needs only some time to really get going and win against someone. Playing at the night game at The Hawthorns could be a just what the doctor ordered. Burnley has struggled significantly to play away this term, and Parker's men are bound to face some stiff challenges to score when on the road to Turf Moor to play on Thursday.
