Watford began their tenure under Valerien Ismael with a convincing victory over QPR, winning 4-0 at Vicarage Road. This triumph propels them to the top of the Championship standings. Tom Dele-Bashiru opened the scoring for the Hornets within 40 seconds, followed by goals from Imran Louza, Matheus Martins, and Vakoun Issouf Bayo in the first half. These goals secured an easy victory for Watford against QPR. Valerien Ismael, the former manager of West Bromwich Albion, is hoping to have a successful start to the season, but is wary of other teams discovering and countering his tactics. In the EFL Cup, Watford suffered a loss to Stevenage, a League One team, which means they will only be focused on competing in the second-tier until January. It has been over a decade since Watford last faced Plymouth in a competitive match, where they achieved a double victory over them in the 2009-10 Championship season.
Watford Predicted Lineup
Bachmann; Ngakia, Porteous, Hoedt, Morris; Dele-Bashiru, Sierralta, Louza; Sema, Martins, Bayo
Plymouth Argyle form
Championship football made a triumphant return to Home Park last Saturday, with Plymouth supporters treated to a thrilling victory against Huddersfield, who are predicted to be relegated. The front three of Morgan Whittaker, Bali Mumba, and Ryan Hardie all found the back of the net, marking their first goals of the season. Of particular note was Mumba's goal, as the young player skillfully maneuvered past numerous defending Terriers before scoring. Additionally, Plymouth has successfully retained much of their championship-winning squad from last season, including the return of Finn Azaz from his loan spell at Aston Villa. Manager Steven Schumacher is reportedly looking to make one more addition before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Plymouth Argyle Predicted Lineup
Hazard; Edwards, Scarr, Gibson, Kelser-Hayden; Wright, Houghton, Randell; Whittaker, Mumba, Hardie
Watford vs Plymouth Argyle Expert Tips
Watford is returning to Vicarage Road following their disappointing performance in the EFL Cup earlier this week. Fans of the Hornets will be looking for a strong response against newly-promoted Plymouth. The Pilgrims made an impressive entrance into the second-tier league during their last match against Huddersfield, however, their visit to Hertfordshire will pose a greater challenge for the League One champions. We expect Watford to win the game with over 2.5 goals in the game.
