Sheffield Wednesday returns to Championship action this weekend, seeking to maintain its upward trajectory towards the playoffs. Having earned a victory last weekend and having done well in the EFL Cup, the team wants to make more progress under the tutelage of manager Danny Rohl. Sitting at 13th position with 15 points from 12 matches, they appear to have learned some lessons from that narrow escape from relegation last season.
Coming from a mixed spell of three wins and four defeats before the international break, Sheffield Wednesday had a test with Burnley and Swansea City, and last Friday saw them win against Portsmouth. Their recent display in the EFL Cup with Brentford was impressive until the penalty shootout saw them bow out. The team is expected to build on its good form and continue pursuing the closing of the gap to their opponents in the upcoming match.
Sheffield Wednesday Predicted Lineup
Beadle; Palmer, Bernard, Iorfa; Valentin, Charles, Bannan, Johnson; Windass, Smith, Gassama
Watford form
They have a tough task since the visiting team wants to get a win to reclaim its place in the top six. Watford, with Tom Cleverley in charge for the first full season since ending 15th last term, has started well; they are seventh on 19 points from 12 matches so far. But their only real weakness remains on the road where, following an opening 3-2 win at Millwall, five consecutive matches have been lost. They came back from two consecutive defeats to Luton Town and Leeds United with a 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers, thus bringing themselves level on points with Blackburn and one point behind West Bromwich Albion. They will look to better their away form by a win at Hillsborough to catapult them into the playoffs.
Watford Predicted Lineup
Bachmann; Pollock, Sierralta, Porteous; Andrews, Ince, Kayembe, Sissoko, Larouci; Baah, Chakvetadze
Sheffield Wednesday vs Watford Expert Tips
Watford have had a terrible run of form away this season, losing five matches in a row on their travels. This might haunt them as they face the improving Sheffield Wednesday side and their growing confidence under their new boss Danny Rohl. We expect both teams to be on the scoresheet with under 2.5 goals in the game.
