Sheffield Wednesday will return to Hillsborough on Saturday with the goal of bouncing back from their recent setback. They had a slow start to the Championship season, going 10 games without a win after gaining promotion through the League One playoffs last season. However, their new manager, Danny Rohl, was able to secure their first victory of the campaign against Rotherham United, giving them hope for improvement. Unfortunately, they suffered a defeat in their last match against Bristol City. Currently sitting at the bottom of the division, they are eager to improve their position and fight against relegation.
They will have captain Barry Bannan available for their upcoming match on Saturday, as they were successful in appealing his red card and subsequent suspension from the previous game against Bristol City. Manager Danny Rohl has implemented a 3-4-3 formation, with Bannan and George Byers expected to partner in midfield. The back three of Dominic Iorfa, Bambo Diaby, and Di'Shon Bernard are likely to remain unchanged, in front of goalkeeper Cameron Dawson. Up front, Michael Smith is expected to lead the line, supported by Anthony Musaba and Djeidi Gassama in the absence of injured Josh Windass.
Sheffield Wednesday Predicted Lineup
Dawson; Iorfa, Diaby, Bernard; Paterson, Byers, Bannan, James; Gassama, Smith, Musaba
Millwall form
Their upcoming opponents, Millwall, are also looking to turn their fortunes around after a series of disappointing results. Their former manager, Gary Rowett, left the club during the international break, leaving them with only 15 points from their first 11 games. Under temporary management, they have been unable to secure a win in their last five matches. Their new manager, Joe Edwards, hopes to start his tenure with a win at Hillsborough and potentially push the team closer to the top half of the table.
Millwall will be without goalkeeper Matija Sarkic, defender Joe Bryan, and attacker Duncan Watmore due to injury. Bartosz Bialkowski will continue in goal. Changes are expected in the starting lineup, with Kevin Nisbet and Ryan Longman pushing for starting roles. The defence is likely to remain the same, with Wes Harding and Jake Cooper in central defence. Casper De Norre and George Saville will fight to retain their places in midfield.
Millwall Predicted Lineup
Bialkowski; McNamara, Harding, Cooper, Wallace; De Norre, Saville; Longman, Flemming, Honeyman; Nisbet
Sheffield Wednesday vs Millwall Expert Tips
In the opinion of the writer, Sheffield Wednesday has shown improvement under Rohl, and with home advantage against struggling Millwall, they are expected to secure their second league win of the season. Expect a game where both the teams will be looking to avoid defensive mistakes rather than to score goals especially in the first half.
