Preston will have wanted things to remain stable at this stage of the season, but the departure of Ryan Lowe saw Heckingbottom appointed as the new manager. Heckingbottom has done it before at Barnsley and Sheffield United, so he carries experience into the job at Deepdale.
The case, the team lost 2-0 to Sheffield United and then 3-0 to Swansea City in their first two league matches, though they did win their EFL Cup match against Sunderland.
Preston North End Predicted Lineup
Woodman, Potts, Storey, Lindsay, Hughes, Thordarson, Whiteman, Ledson, Holmes, Osmajic, Brady
Luton Town form
Luton has not stared at a side likely to be conquering another league promotion. Luton lost 4-1 to Burnley and still managed a goalless draw against Portsmouth for their first point of the season. New signings Mark McGuinness and Liam Walsh have joined the squad to strengthen the team. Just from the performances so far, it seems to be of the attacking side that Luton seems to miss out most. Luton has not won an away game since their victory over Everton in the FA Cup in January.
Luton Town Predicted Lineup
Shea, Walters, Mengi, Bell, Ogbene, Clark, Baptiste, Doughty, Morris, Chong and Adebayo
Preston North End vs Luton Town Expert Tips
It is not clear what kind of make-up Heckingbottom will go for in his first Preston lineup, though with a three-man defence not out of the question. Changes will be made from the midweek effort and Sam Greenwood, Duane Holmes and Milutin Osmajic are all options in midfield and attack. James Shea should assume goalkeeping duties for Luton, with Thomas Kaminski suspended. Since their arrivals, along with those of McGuinness and Walsh, not too much should change from the XI that doggedly fought out a goalless draw. This is a really hard game to assess between two pretty bad teams, but we marginally favour the away side's stability to get the job done. We expect under 2.5 goals in the game overall.
