In the earlier part of the season, Ryan Lowe could have faced criticism from the Preston hierarchy if the team's performance did not improve. However, after a run of eight defeats in 12 games, Preston bounced back with four wins and two draws in their next six matches. Following impressive victories over Ipswich Town, Cardiff City, and Middlesbrough, Preston managed to salvage a draw against Blackburn Rovers after being two goals down in their derby clash on February 17. This momentum carried over to their unexpected 3-0 win against promotion rivals Coventry City at the CBS Arena. The upcoming match against Hull gives Preston the chance to level on points with their sixth-placed opponents. Preston will have had more than a week to recover since their win over Coventry before their match on Saturday. Assuming no last-minute injuries, Lowe is expected to choose the same starting lineup, with Best, Potts, and Holmes still unavailable.

Hull City form
Hull have also shown a similar turnaround in performance by winning five of their last seven games after a series of defeats over the Christmas and New Year period. Despite a home loss to Swansea City, Hull managed to secure impressive 2-1 victories in three consecutive away games against Rotherham United, Huddersfield Town, and Southampton. The draw against West Bromwich Albion kept Hull in close contention with their promotion rivals and the chasing pack as the competition for promotion heats up.
Rosenior may make at least one change to Hull's lineup, with Connolly possibly replacing Omur and Carvalho moving to a deeper playmaking role. Delap is the only injury concern for Hull.
