Erol Bulut has been open about his desire to strengthen his Cardiff squad this month in order to maintain their chances of promotion. However, the longer it takes to bring in new players, the more difficult it becomes for Cardiff, as they are now in the bottom half of the table. Although they have earned seven points from their last five games, their 3-0 loss to Leeds United was a clear sign that they were outplayed. It was crucial for Cardiff to secure a victory against Queens Park Rangers in between that defeat and their 2-0 loss to Leicester City, as it kept them in contention with the top five teams. There is a possibility that Joe Edwards may return to the Plymouth Argyle starting lineup as Kesler-Hayden has returned to Aston Villa. However, Sorinola and Devine may have to settle for places on the substitutes' bench.
Plymouth Argyle Predicted Lineup
Hazard; Phillips, Scarr, Galloway; Edwards, Houghton, Gyabi, Mumba; Whittaker, Wright; Hardie
Cardiff City form
There is pressure on Cardiff to continue their recent success in away games, as they face a Plymouth team that is undergoing a transition period under new manager Ian Foster. Key players such as Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Luke Cundle, and Finn Azaz have left Plymouth, and although replacements have been found, they must perform well immediately to prevent the team from falling into the bottom three. Plymouth's 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town last weekend was a step in the right direction, as they have now only lost one of their last seven Championship games. They currently have an eight-point lead over the relegation zone, but they must continue to improve in order to avoid the possibility of returning to League One in the second half of the season.
Joe Ralls is expected to miss out for Cardiff City due to a groin injury, and Andy Rinomhota or Rubin Colwill are likely replacements in midfield. Yakou Meite is likely to return to the attack. Players like Callum O'Dowda and Aaron Ramsey are still sidelined due to injury.
Cardiff City Predicted Lineup
Alnwick; Ng, Goutas, McGuinness, Collins; Wintle, Siopis, Ralls; Bowler, Etete, Grant
