After finally achieving back-to-back victories in March, Gary Rowett would have hoped Millwall was in an excellent position to secure a playoff spot. However, the team has failed to score in their last four matches, losing two 1-0 games to Huddersfield Town and Hull City, and settling for goalless draws with West Bromwich Albion and Luton Town. Although Millwall's poor form would usually see them drop out of the playoff positions, other teams around them also struggled during the Easter period, leaving Millwall in fifth place but only by goal difference. Winning on Saturday will be crucial for Rowett's side, who have only lost four games out of twenty in the second tier this season, a record equivalent to Preston's away performances.
Millwall’s Predicted lineup
Long; McNamara, Hutchinson, Cooper, Wallace; Mitchell, Saville; Honeyman, Flemming, Voglsammer; Bradshaw
Preston North End Form
Preston North End has a commendable away record this season, having gathered 35 points from 20 matches, although only two of their ten victories came in their last five games. Overall, the team has only lost once in their previous 11 fixtures, winning five out of six, which puts them in the running for a surprising top-six spot. They scored seven goals in wins against Blackpool, Queens Park Rangers and Reading, with Tom Cannon, on loan from Everton, netting four of them. Although their remaining fixtures include no teams below 14th place, Preston remains confident that other teams will be wary of them rather than the other way around.
Preston North End's possible lineup
Woodman; Storey, Lindsay, Hughes; Potts, Onomah, Whiteman, Johnson, Fernandez; Parrott, Cannon
Millwall vs Preston North End expert tips
Given the divergent forms of the two sides, it's reasonable to expect Preston to have the edge over Millwall in their upcoming match in East London. However, despite losing their last two games, Millwall has only been narrowly beaten and we believe they will do enough to give the away side a tough fight. We expect Preston to win narrowly and with under 2.5 goals in the game.
