With the task of taking Millwall higher up the league, even promotion not being out of their hopes, Neil Harris has been on duty since taking over from Joe Edwards halfway through the 2023-24 season and securing safety in the second tier. Millwall started the Championship season on a slow pace, where initially they had to face three winless matches in a row, though they managed to regain their rhythm at the end of August with a convincing 3-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday.
In this recent match against Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall secured the win with a goal from Josh Coburn in addition to those from Duncan Watmore and Jake Cooper. Watmore scored his fourth goal this season in the Championship and is currently joint top of the hunt for the golden boot with Josh Maja and Mark Harris. The club go into this tie without the Dutch forward who has been a key player for them after Zian Flemming left for Burnley in the summer transfer window following his 23 goals in two seasons for Millwall.
Millwall Predicted Lineup
Jensen; Leonard, Cooper, Tanganga, Bryan; Saville, De Norre, Esse, Honeyman, Watmore; Coburn
Luton Town form
As if their first-ever Premier League promotion was nothing more than a mirage for the Luton Town players and fans, the newly-promoted side got an instant dose of reality with their relegation from the top tier. To make matters worse, they had a dreadful start to their Championship promotion quest this season. The only somewhat positive result Luton has so far recorded in the second tier this season is a draw against Portsmouth. That was enough to send them slumping down to 23rd place and 11 points adrift from top-of-the-log leaders Sunderland.
Despite having talented attackers like Elijah Adebayo, Tahith Chong, and Carlton Morris, Luton has struggled to score goals in the Championship with only two goals scored in four league matches. In a bid to improve their performance and compete for a top-six finish, the team signed Victor Moses after the summer transfer window.
Luton will be seeking to change their fortunes and will be hosting Millwall. The last three meetings between the two in the Championship have ended in draws, but the last time Luton came out on top against Millwall was in October 2021, when Harry Cornick scored a brace in a 2-0 win at The Den.
Luton Town Predicted Lineup
Kaminski; Mengi, McGuinness, Bell; Walters, Baptiste, Clark, Doughty; Morris, Chong, Adebayo
Millwall vs Luton Town Expert Tip
The fact that a recently relegated side is making the trip to The Den this weekend should drive Millwall onto a good performance against a fragile Luton side. Though the visitors have the capability of causing Millwall some issues on Saturday, we think Rob Edwards' team will indeed go on to suffer their fourth loss of the season.
