After two consecutive defeats at the hands of Watford and Bristol City, Middlesbrough claimed four points from two Championship matches at the end of October. It beat Sheffield United on 23 October and drew 1-1 at Norwich last weekend. Tommy Conway, who was signed by Middlesbrough in the summer, scored two brilliant goals against Norwich, equaling the prolific goal-getter of league top scorer, Borja Sainz. They allowed Middlesbrough no more, but aSeny Dieng own goal in minute 80 nullified every point for that match at Riverside Stadium.
By the end of October, Middlesbrough had surged to ninth in the Championship table, with five points off second place Burnley and just a point adrift from fourth-placed Blackburn Rovers. It is going into their next game with Middlesbrough's strong home record that has taken one defeat from six at Riverside Stadium so far this term. Apart from Liam Manning's Bristol City, only one other team has gone away victorious from Riverside Stadium this campaign.
And though new signing Tommy Conway is making a storm, also doing fantastically with four goals from twelve appearances for the team in Championship play, expect them to carry that into the next few fixtures.
Middlesbrough Predicted Lineup
Dieng; Dijksteel, Van den Berg, Edmundson, Borges; Morris, Hackney; Doak, Azaz, McGree; Conway
Coventry City form
Coventry City earned themselves a much-needed win after earning only one point in their last three matches against Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End, and Queens Park Rangers with a win over Luton at the Coventry Building Society Arena last Saturday. Sky Blues trailed by two goals at the end of the first 40 minutes of play, but made an impressive comeback in the second half, winning the match through a late goal scored by Haji Wright in the 92nd minute. Ellis Simms doubled his season's tally as he scored another goal during the match. Although the win was in the right direction, it is still a long way to go for Coventry to solidify their claim as promotion contenders, lying in 18th position in the Championship standings and seven points adrift from the playoff spots. Coventry will seek their fourth successive win when they meet Middlesbrough next weekend, a record recently achieved after finishing the season with a 3-0 win over the Teesiders back in May 2023 and securing their ticket to Wembley and the playoff final.
Coventry City Lineup
Dovin; Van Ewijk, Thomas, Binks, Dasilva; Sheaf, Torp, Rudoni; Sakamoto, Simms, Wright
Middlesbrough vs Coventry City Expert Picks
Having played at their own ground under their belts, Middlesbrough looks hopeful that they shall be able to bag a win when they face Coventry at the Riverside following a one-all draw against Norwich. Still, despite that, Coventry hasn't won any of its six matches this season on the road in the Championship and we expect it to turn out seven of those matches without an away win.
