The regular Championship season's final day sees Luton Town in high spirits as they secured a third-place finish in England's second tier. After Nathan Jones left his post as manager, with 29 points from 20 games, the Hatters have performed even better under Rob Edwards, accumulating 63 more points in 24 league matches under the new boss. With 17 victories and only five defeats, Luton has consistently strengthened their top-six claim, cementing a position in the playoff spots with a 13-game unbeaten run since mid-February, earning 29 points in that time.
The Hatters sat fourth for the majority of that run but climbed into third spot in early April, ahead of Middlesbrough, by defeating them 2-1 with goals from Tom Lockyer and Carlton Morris. A 1-1 draw away at Blackburn Rovers followed, with Lockyer scoring in the 50th minute but being canceled out late on. On Monday, the Hatters will aim to finish the season on a high with a victory, reaching a final tally of 82 points and keeping an eye out for who will finish sixth to meet them in the semi-finals.
Luton Town Predicted Lineup
Horvath; Lockyer, Bradley, Bell; Onyedinma, Berry, Mpanzu, Freeman, Potts; Adebayo, Morris
Hull City Form
Hull City will be hoping to end their relatively positive Championship season on a high note, even though they will finish in mid-table. Liam Rosenior's appointment as manager in November led to steady improvement for the team, earning them 37 points in 27 league games, which has put them in 14th place in the table.
Their position is mainly due to a good run since mid-March, as the Tigers have only lost one match in eight Championship games, drawing three times before winning at home to playoff-chasing Millwall. They then drew with Blackburn Rovers and lost away to fourth-placed Middlesbrough, but bounced back with a 1-0 win against Watford, followed by a 1-1 draw against Swansea City, moving them up to 14th spot.
With just one point ahead of Bristol City in 15th place, Hull is unlikely to climb any further with Watford three points better off and having a far superior goal difference. However, they will be determined to end their encouraging season on a high and maintain their position in 14th place.
Hull City possible lineup
Darlow; Coyle, Jones, Greaves, Elder; Sayyadmanesh, Seri, Simons, Slater; Traore, Tufan
