When Ipswich began the season with victories over Sunderland and Stoke, it was expected that the newly promoted team would become less consistent as more matches were played. However, Kieran McKenna's team has continued to demonstrate their qualities and has won eight out of their ten matches in the second tier. Their only loss came in a thrilling match against Leeds United. Since then, they have put together a six-game undefeated streak, winning five times and moving five points clear of their upcoming opponents. Ipswich had to fight hard for a late draw against Huddersfield Town but responded with a 3-0 victory over potential promotion rival Hull City. They have scored in all 13 of their matches in the 2023-2024 season so far. McKenna may choose to field the same Ipswich XI that secured a convincing victory over Hull in their previous match. However, it is possible that Cameron Burgess will replace George Edmundson in the centre of the defence, as Burgess was unavailable for the match against Hull. Omari Hutchinson and Freddie Ladapo are expected to remain on the substitutes' bench.
Ipswich Town Predicted Lineup
Possible starting lineup for Ipswich Town: Hladky; Williams, Woolfenden, Burgess, Davis; Morsy, Luongo; Burns, Chaplin, Harness; Hirst
Preston North End form
On the other hand, Preston had remained unbeaten in the Championship until last weekend, conceding only six goals in eight matches and holding a top-three position. However, they recently suffered a 4-0 defeat at home against West Bromwich Albion and a loss with three second-half goals against leaders Leicester City. Although their early-season efforts have not been completely undone, Preston is in need of a rebound victory as soon as possible. Unfortunately for them, they must make a long trip to Portman Road. Despite conceding only five goals in their five away matches this season, this record becomes irrelevant when considering that they have let in seven goals without scoring in just two games. On the other hand, Lowe will need to decide whether to stick with the back four used against Leicester or revert to Preston's more traditional defensive three. Will Keane may replace Milutin Osmajic in the attack, and Ryan Ledson could return to the midfield after missing the previous game against Leicester.
Preston North End Predicted Lineup
Possible starting lineup for Preston North End: Woodman; Potts, Whatmough, Lindsay, Cunningham; Millar, Ledson, McCann, Brady; Holmes; Keane
