Some of the fans have been left disappointed by the decision to part ways with Liam Rosenior after finishing seventh last season, who is now head coach at Strasbourg; now it shifts focus to a new chapter under Tim Walter. Previously managing Hamburger SV, the former won 51 out of 104 matches managed.
Although Walter's appointment may raise one or two eyebrows among the Hull supporters, they are required to be in line with the club's decisions as more signings are expected to happen in the next few weeks. This will not be such an easy task to replace vital players like Jacob Greaves and Jadon Philogene, so a lot of patience has to be taken early in the season if things are to fall in place and get along well.
Hull's pre-season has not been ideal, as they are yet to pick up a win; they did, however, draw with Kasimpasa and Fiorentina. Their opponents in the Vile, though, have had the perfect pre-season - four times winners, though these victories did come against inferior opposition. Liam Manning's men ended their build-up for the new season with a 0-0 stalemate against Willem II as they gear up to be at their best for a potential playoff charge.
Walter will most likely go for a similar lineup to the team that faced Reading in their last game. Marvin Mehlem, a debutant versus them, will most probably feature in the attacking third, while Jean Michael Seri could come in place of Xavier Simons. Ryan Giles might make a comeback at left-back, while Oscar Estupinan is tipped to lead the attack.
Hull City Predicted Lineup
Pandur; Drameh, Jones, McLoughlin, Giles; Seri, Slater; Omur, Mehlem, Longman; Estupinan
Bristol City form
Bristol City has been looking to ensure that the attacking unit does not end up bereft of quality players in case of some departures, with Tommy Conway already having flown out to discuss personal terms before the transfer window closed. The team's show in the early part of the season is likely to decide whether more signings will be made in other departments.
On the other hand, the boss of Bristol City—Manning—is most likely to field the same XI as the one that took the pitch in the team's last outing; however, he has vast attacking options to choose from. Mark Sykes and Fally Mayulu both eye time in the attacking third, following the team's failure to score last time out. Taylor Gardner-Hickman may also be an option in midfield for a more defensive look.
Bristol City Predicted Lineup
O'Leary; Tanner, Vyner, Dickie, Pring, Knight, Bird; Mehmeti, Bell, Wells, Armstrong
