Burnley are still thinking about their bad 2023-24 season in the Premier League, considering the losses they have found in the Championship and EFL Cup lately. After victories in their first two matches in the second division, they lost last weekend to Sunderland, and to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the EFL Cup. Still, they are in fifth position in the Championship table. The new signings of Hannibal Mejbri and Joe Worrall spell Burnley's intention of returning to the Premier League.
Burnley Predicted Lineup
Hladky; Roberts, Egan-Riley, Esteve, Pires; Vitinho, Cullen, Brownhill, Hountondji; Foster, Rodriguez
Blackburn Rovers Team Form
Blackburn Rovers were victims of a shocking defeat by Blackpool in the EFL Cup after an unbeaten start to their first four games this season. They are having a high-flying start to life in the Championship, collecting seven points from three games so far. Though they will have to do without two of their influential players in Sammie Szmodics and Scott Wharton through injury concerns, Blackburn will be seeking to snap out of their losing spell in this East Lancashire derby against Burnley.
Blackburn Rovers Predicted Lineup
Pears; Brittain, Carter, Hyam, Pickering; Tronstad, Travis, Rankin-Costello, Dolan, Hedges; Ohashi
Burnley vs Blackburn Rovers Expert Tips
Burnley will once again be without attacker Mike Tresor, who was ruled out of the early part of the season by a leg injury. The Clarets will also lack the Championship experience of Nathan Redmond, who is not due to return until October after a knee problem.
Scott Parker has been making different tactical changes, one of which is that he has been deploying Vitinho in a more advanced role on the right flank, away from his traditional full-back position, which Vincent Kompany used him for.
Blackburn Rovers also have problems at the back, with Scott Wharton still out for the rest of the year with a cruciate ligament injury. With a limited center-back option, Blackburn will be keen to add to the lineup.
The key men, including Ohashi, Tyrhys Dolan, and Ryan Hedges, should be back into the starting lineup at Turf Moor after being rested for the EFL Cup defeat at the hands of Blackpool.
Where hope would naturally fall upon new signing Yuki Ohashi to change the outcome for Blackburn, despite their attacking threat, Burnley's record in the derby is pretty strong, with visitors firm odds-on favourites going into this weekend's test at Turf Moor.
