After an inspiring preseason performance, Liam Manning was optimistic about Bristol City's chances as another season of Championship football got underway. A 1-1 draw at Hull City looked to be a decent result, but deep disappointment followed when a late equalizer—scored from the penalty spot—was allowed. In the EFL Cup, instead of drawing lower league opposition, it was Coventry City who were at Ashton Gate, Bristol City losing 1-0.
Although they took some time to get into their rhythm in 2024-25, Bristol City certainly ended last season well with 13 points from their last five home games.
Predicted Lineup for Bristol City
O'Leary; Tanner, Vyner, Dickie, Pring; Williams, Knight; Sykes, Bird, Mehmeti; Armstrong
Millwall form
Millwall went into the new season in good spirits following up on Neil Harris's eight wins in 13 games before the break in May. However, they lost out in an exciting five-goal game to Watford, who scored late to win despite Millwall coming back by two goals.
Millwall bounced back from that defeat with a 1-0 victory over Portsmouth in the EFL Cup, their third consecutive away win by that scoreline. The team's fans will be hoping for another positive result as they take to the pitch on Saturday.
Millwall Predicted Lineup
Jensen; McNamara, Harding, Cooper, Bryan; De Norre, Saville; Esse, Honeyman, Watmore; Bradshaw
Bristol City vs Millwall Expert Tips
Sam Bell picked up an injury in the first half against Coventry and therefore, will most probably not make a start here. Manning will go almost with the same Bristol City starting XI which he fielded against Hull, but replace Mayulu probably with Armstrong up front. Max Bird should feature as the advanced midfielder over Nahki Wells who played this supporting striker role. Wes Harding may be a replacement for Shaun Hutchinson in Millwall's defense following quite impressive display against Portsmouth, and the rest of the team that lost at Watford could stay. Both teams, Bristol City and Millwall, are trying to enhance their chances of making the playoffs. A tight game with few goals is expected.
