Blackburn Rovers vs Rotherham United Prediction: Rovers on four-game losing run

Blackburn Rovers will welcome Rotherham United at Ewood Park in Game Week 26 of the English Championship. Rovers are on a four-game losing run in the Championship. Who will come out on top after 90 minutes?

When Blackburn has a series of games, whether they win or lose, they tend to change direction immediately, for better or for worse. However, Rovers have now lost four consecutive matches for the second time this season, which could potentially put Jon Dahl Tomasson's job at risk. Although three of these losses occurred in away games, Blackburn has conceded a total of 12 goals, including three goals each against Huddersfield Town and Hull City. Despite showing character by coming back from being two goals down to level with Hull on Friday, their hopes for a much-needed victory were effectively dashed when they let in a third goal and had Dominic Hyam sent off with 16 minutes remaining. Now eight points behind the top six, Tomasson and his players understand the importance of securing a win against the struggling Millers.

Tomasson may be forced to make at least one change to the lineup due to Hyam's one-match ban. It is likely that Hayden Carter will start in Hyam's place. In addition, Harry Leonard or Niall Ennis are expected to replace Semir Telalovic in the attack, and Andrew Moran is likely to start in the final third. While Lewis Travis is an option in midfield, Tomasson may choose to keep the rest of the Blackburn XI from the previous match against Hull.

Rotherham are eight points from the 21st spot. However, Leam Richardson can take encouragement from their performance over the Christmas period. After losing 3-0 against Leicester City, they managed to collect four points from matches against formidable North-East teams, Middlesbrough and Sunderland. There may be disappointment that they couldn't secure a maximum return against the latter, but Richardson has brought about a change in trajectory that has given hope to the supporters. Nonetheless, Rotherham has yet to win an away game in the league during the 2023-24 season, with their only recent point coming from a game against Birmingham City.

Sam Clucas, who scored a goal in his return to the starting lineup against Sunderland, will hope to keep his spot in the Rotherham side. Ollie Rathbone, who missed the previous game due to illness, may also feature, but minimal changes are expected.
