Haiti reached the semi-finals of the 2019 Gold Cup but was unlucky to be drawn in the same group as Canada and the USA. Haiti's best achievements date back to the 1970s, notably winning the 1973 Gold Cup and qualifying for the 1974 World Cup in Germany.
Haiti's most recent tournament to date was the Nations League, where they won Division B with Guyana, Bermuda, and Montserrat (five wins and one draw) convincingly to move up to the elite A-League.
Qatar
Qatar looked excellent in the previous Gold Cup, scoring nine goals and taking seven points in a group with Panama, Grenada, and Honduras. Qatar outplayed El Salvador (3:2) in the quarter-finals and only stopped in the semi-finals, where they lost 0:1 to eventual champion Team USA. Now do they intend to perform even better and reach the final game?
After the home World Cup, which ended for the national team at the group stage, Qatar had time to take part in the so-called Gulf Cup of Nations, where they lost in the semi-finals to Iraq (1:2). And directly prepared for the Gold Cup in June, the Qataris played three friendly matches - losing 0:1 each to Croatia (B) and New Zealand, and beating Jamaica 2:1.

The failure at the home World Cup, where Qatar lost all three matches by a combined score of 1:7, cost head coach Felix Sanchez his job. Portugal's Bruno Pinheiro only served a couple of months and was fired after the Gulf Cup, where he won only one match out of four. For the Gold Cup, the Qatari national team was already being prepared by Carlos Queiroz. He has signed a contract until 2026 after heading up Iran at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
There is little doubt that the experienced Keiruş will prove himself in his new role and, perhaps, already at the tournament that begins in the United States. Haiti is a tough team by CONCACAF standards, but our money is on Qatar in the upcoming game. After all, they've already beaten Jamaica (2:1), one of the best teams in the confederation, in a friendly. In addition, we believe the match will not be very productive, given the defensive style of coach Queiroz.
