Cruzeiro vs Internacional
Stadium: Mineirão
29.08.2024, 01:30
Cruzeiro and Internacional will meet again now for a postponed game from Round 5. Last weekend, Inter hosted Cruzeiro and won 1-0 with a goal from Colombian Rafael Borré in the 70th minute. The Miners eliminated Boca Juniors in the Copa Sudamerican but haven't won in four games in the Brasileirão.
Cruzeiro
The Fox is having a good season, although its performance has dropped noticeably in recent games. Cruzeiro is in 7th place with 37 points, six more than Vasco da Gama, the team immediately below in the standings. The Miners will play three consecutive home games in the Brasileirão, so they have a good chance of climbing into the top six. Whoever finishes the league in the G6 guarantees access to the Copa Libertadores, although only the top four will go directly to the group stage. Cruzeiro will look to return to winning ways against Internacional to regain the sixth place lost to Bahia and respond to the last round's defeat against the Gaúchos.
Internacional
After beating Cruzeiro in the last round, Inter climbed to 11th place with four games less played. The climate tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul has undoubtedly affected the Colorado team, which has been unable to use its stadium for months. The canceled games and the impossibility of training and playing in Porto Alegre have caused enormous instability among the players. The Gaúchos could improve their position considerably if they win some of their games in hand.
Expert Betting Tips
The two teams met last weekend, and Internacional won 1-0 in a game in which it was the better team. However, Cruzeiro had just played a demanding contest against Boca Juniors midweek and couldn't use Matheus Pereira, its best player, against Inter. These two factors mitigate the poor showing of the Miners, who will now try to prove that they are superior to Internacional. The Fox is strong at home, where it has only lost one game, so it's the favorite against the Gaúchos. I'm therefore backing Cruzeiro to win.
