The Austrian national team has never qualified for the world championships in the XXI century, but at the European Championships, they have become an almost permanent participant. The Red Whites played as hosts in Euro-2008, then missed Euro-2012. In Euro-2016 and Euro-2020, they have already played, and now they are preparing for the upcoming tournament in Germany. The qualifiers were surprisingly easy for the Eagles, as they finished second in the standings, only one point ahead of the Belgians. In the first game of 2024, they traveled to Bratislava for a friendly with the Slovaks, where they opened the scoring as early as the sixth second and then went on to win 2:0.
Turkey
A similar picture can be observed with the Turkish national team, which has played at the World Championships only twice in its history: in 1954, they crashed out in the group stage, but in 2002, they won bronze medals. In Euro 2008, they also won bronze medals, but in Euro 2012 and Euro 2016, they failed to get out of the group. Now, they are expected to take part in Euro 2024, where they started under Stefan Küntz, but by October 2023, Vincenzo Montella was appointed head coach. They managed to successfully complete their qualification, finishing at the top of a very difficult group. The Turks played their first game of 2024 in Budapest, where they suffered a 0:1 defeat against the Hungarians.
