In the previous round, Independiente won 2-1 away to San Lorenzo. Lautaro Milán put the team in front early, in the 12th minute, but Vombergar salvaged a goal from the spot for San Lorenzo at 22’. Remarkably, despite a good second half of the game, it was Facundo Loyola in the 74th minute who bagged the winner and those precious three points. On top of their 59% possession Independiente never really looked like losing the game as they had 10 of their total shots, 3 of them on target. They were defiantly compact defensively, blocking 4 shots and committing 7 fouls. However, this was efficient attack, not dominant attack as their data suggests with an expected goals (xG) of 0.38. In particular, they’ll have to be sharper against a defensive strong opponent in Racing.
Racing Club (LLWWL)
On the other hand, Huracán beat Racing Club 0-1 at home, and also suffered one goal defeats in the Copa Libertadores against River Plate. However they failed to take their dominance in 61 percent possession and 19 shots and turn it into goals. Ezequiel Ramírez scored his only goal of the match at 25′ for Huracán. Many opportunities came up, but they haven’t been capitalizing on their xG (1.04) with their finishing. They forced 5 saves off the brave hands of the opposing goalkeeper and had 12 shots inside the box, but did not hit the target. But the match was controlled, they allowed 12 shots and though they did not take advantage of their chances, they defended well. In order for Racing to have a chance in this big derby, they need to improve on their finishing against Independiente.
Expert Betting Tips
The Avellaneda derby is always unpredictable, being very emotional with both teams’ weapons in play and with the tactical battles. Independiente have had plenty to be confident about following an away win while Racing are fed up of being on the wrong end of a home loss. So far a relatively tactically balanced derby, but one that will be high intensity. Independiente will be an efficiency in the important moments, while Racing’s need of redemption may make them take the initiative, though.
