Team Liquid remains the only real contender for the Elite League Season 2 championship in Peru. Liquid decided not to refuse the invite, unlike many top teams, but to play in a LAN atmosphere with less strong opponents. Perhaps this is another way to finally take at least a title, as the organisation has a really big string of lost finals. Eight grand finals in four years, seven of them in the last twenty months, and the bottom line is the same: defeat.
It would seem that this line-up is made for triumphs. Nisha has earned comparisons to Prime Miracle, Boxi-Insania-m1CKe have been playing together for over seven years, and 33 has won Dota 2's premier tournament, The International, with Tundra Esports. Combining all these players in one team was a priori seen as a step of Team Liquid to the first places, but in practice the line-up is in no way able to make the final step. In 2024, ‘Liquid’ did not boast stability, although they have one pattern - online Team Liquid does not get out of groups, but on LAN shows a very confident game, occasionally reaching the grand finals.
Who of the opponents in Elite League Season 2 can compete with Insania's team? Probably OG, Heroic, 1win and nouns have even less chances. If this tournament will not be triumphant for Liquid again, or even worse, will end in second place, then we can diagnose a pathological intolerance to grand finals series in HE5 format. It is very hard to believe that any of the teams are capable of moving the finalist of the last Riyadh Masters 2024 from the winning path.
Shopify Rebellion
Shopify Rebellion is slowly moving towards rebuilding the roster. The organization signed the former Evil Geniuses roster two years ago with Arteezy and BuLba. BuLba is now left alone to train brand new players, while Arteezy recently moved to the streamer ranks and took a break from professional Dota 2. Pakazs is now temporarily playing the kerry role, and SabeRLight- is once again playing on the three.
Arteezy and SabeRLight- had a conflict just before the qualifications for major tournaments, which led to the Czech being kicked out of the roster and MinD_ContRoL being invited to the offline. Shopify Rebellion lost to nouns in the grand finals of qualifiers for the Riyadh Masters 2024 and The International 2024 and missed out on major Dota 2 events, which was the catalyst for Arteezy to put his career on hold. That version of the Shopify Rebellion lineup featured at Elite League Season 2 could potentially solidify itself and become a full-blown threat to many of the world's top players. Pakazs has already shined for Evil Geniuses when he was a South American squad, he can play at the level of the world's best carries. Kitrak played in OG and has been praised by many pro players. Yopaj is somewhat similar in playstyle to Abed, former Shopify Rebellion mid.
The trouble with this team is the lack of decent competition within the region. For good practice, Shopify Rebellion needs to qualify for Dash 1 tournaments and go to bootcamps in Europe to play prakki against Team Liquid or Gaimin Gladiators. In 2024, the team went to less frequent Dash-1 events, and with that, the quality of play deteriorated. That's why nobody takes Shopify Rebellion in Peru seriously - on paper, it should safely make the playoffs, but reaching the top 3 would be considered a big sensation.
Expert Betting Tips
Team Liquid are superior to all their opponents. But in Peru, Liquid likes to give one card each to their opponents in BO3. Maybe now Team Liquid is not yet switched on to full power and can afford to make mistakes within reason. Shopify Rebellion, on the other hand, is performing very convincingly so far, and in theory they can get one card.
