In the new season, Talon Esports is not aiming high in major tournaments and has no star players on the roster. After a good 2023, 23savage and company left for Aurora, and the organization gathered experienced guys from Southeast Asia. The roster turned out pretty good - managed to qualify for Elite League and ESL One Birmingham 2024, and won a small regional tournament - RES Regional Series: SEA #1.
In the Elite League, the team won two matches - against Rest Farmers and Nigma Galaxy (both 2:1). The opponents were not the most formidable, but bookmakers believed in Miracle and company a bit more. For some reason, Talon Esports loses the first map, on the second map they smash their opponent, and on the third map there is a tight fight, from which the Asians emerge victorious. Offliner Ws sometimes likes to play as a second carry and takes Anti-Mage or Bloodseeker, greatly confusing opponents in spades.
Talon Esports didn't face any strong opponents during the Elite League, and this allowed them to climb to the top of the standings. The Swiss format has been saving the Asians so far, and even in the match to advance to the group stage, they didn't face OG or Entity. Considering that there is experience of winning 2024, Talon Esports has some chances in the match against BOOM Esports.
BOOM Esports
BOOM Esports has taken on a South American roster this year and has already earned more than they have in 2023. The team traveled to Kazan for the Future Games and placed fourth, as well as qualifying for PGL Wallachia Season 1.
The organization retained a very strong cadre of players in the Global South American Resolve. After the breakup of Evil Geniuses, Pakazs and Panda moved to BOOM Esports, and the trio of SLATEM$, ILICH- and n1ght moved from Thunder Awaken.
Everyone played at The International 12, Pakazs is the strongest carry in South America, and the roster is very young compared to the competition. Evil Geniuses' coach Vintage, with whom the Peruvians were in the top 4 of the majors and top 6 of TI11, also moved here. BOOM Esports couldn't pass Heroic in qualification, but in the absence of Heroes they don't face any worthy competition. Nobody believed in Pakazs and company in Kazan, but they sensationally beat PSG.Quest.
BOOM Esports should not be underestimated. At the beginning of 2023, some of the players and coach in Evil Geniuses were in the top 8 teams around the world and fought with Europeans on equal terms. They have experience, high skill, and the guys from the former Thunder Awaken are quite skillful. BOOM Esports can pass Swiss Stage and should close this story in this match.
Expert Betting Tips
Bookmakers still doubt the Peruvians and favor the Asians. Talon Esports may surprise with another interesting strategy, but BOOM Esports has a bit more faith in them - an experienced team, more skillful, with fresh experience of fighting at the tier-1 level. It may be on the third card, but the Peruvians will prevail in the series.
