TOOBASED vs Team DogChamp: Underdog showdown for lifetime points

The second DPC of the 2021/22 season in the North American region will continue on Thursday, March 31. TOOBASED and Team DogChamp will meet in the second match of the day in the elite division.

DPC NA 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I is an online Dota 2 tournament that will run from March 15 to April 20, 2022. Eight of the strongest teams in the North American region will compete for $205,000. Besides the cash prizes, the teams will compete for two tickets to the majors and the important DPC points needed to qualify for T11.

TOOBASED: It’s time for X

In the first round, the North American underdog gave battle to 4 Zoomers (1:2) and even snatched one map from their opponent, but with TSM (0:2) and Evil Geniuses (0:2) there was not much chance to enjoy even one map taken, but that’s not surprising. Nobody put this team in the leaders of the North American elite. The guys are struggling for survival and the main local victories in the winter allowed the guys to stay in the elite. What will happen in the spring? The hour X has arrived. It’s time to win or we can prepare for the second division right away.

The team TOOBASED was formed in 2021 to make a fruitful DPC 21-22 season. The former squad won Division Two of the North American DPC last season and gained the right to play in the region's elite. Ryoya, who loved to pull teams out of the pit, was signed for those tasks, but so far this famous player hasn’t been able to pull anyone out of the pit all last season. The new team does not inspire much confidence, even with the new star teammate. That the team simply TOOBASED to start the second round of the DPC cycle 2021/22 in the elite is a real miracle. The two games that these guys could drag out, they were miraculously enough to keep their place. Will their luck continue to favour them now? That’s a tough question.

This offseason, the team switched their third position. German player TheBloodySky, who moved from Europe to America, joined the team, and his former team IVY cannot boast anything, so it’s difficult to name this transfer as strengthening. But the season will show.

Looking at the list of participants in the elite division, this team looks like one of the prime candidates for relegation. The team is a “lifter” and, if, perhaps, they can take maps from someone, but certainly not to teams of the level of QC, EG, TSM and even 4 Zoomers.

Team DogChamp: One last chance

Unlike their opponents today, Team DogChamp have already had the chance to play one direct rival and to their mutual dismay, they lost that meeting 0-2 and the team that hurt them and almost put them at the edge of relegation is The Cut. Yes, Team DogChamp have had two more games this season, but they were against leaders Quincy Crew (1-2) and TSM (0-2). Having lost today, there is virtually no chance of keeping their place in the elite.

Team DogChamp is a North American Dota 2 team that was originally formed to compete in the DPC in early 2021. After more than a year of existence, this team has still broken into the elite division. The road to the first division was progressive, the first DPC league in 2021 had a final 4th place, the second was 3rd place and now in the new cycle in the first round of the second North American division of the DogChamp team took 2nd place and still qualify for promotion. But will this team be able to merge its place among the top teams? The question is complicated.

Before their elite debut, the players of this team played in the BTS Pro Series Season 10: Americas, where they only finished in 7th-8th place, and there was also a low-rated tournament called Royal Jelly Covenant: NA, where the guys came in second.
