What bad luck for the Peruvians. Darkmago was denied a U.S. visa. He will try again but won't make it to the start. The team profile has no information about his participation or replacement, but it's a disadvantage for his team. Moreover, the team gets a technical defeat in the game with Talon on the first day of the group stage, as two players and the coach will get their visas only on August 4 and will arrive in the U.S. only on that day.
All of the regional leagues have been good for Thunder Awaken. The guys won the South American Regional League three times. They went to the majors in Sweden and performed well there, finishing in 5th-6th place but losing in the playoffs to OG. Such results satisfied the management, and they didn't change the lineup. Thunder Awaken is still the main favorite of the South American region. The other day the team won the closed qualifications for ESL One Malaysia 2022, so the preparation for TI11 in Peru is in full swing.
Thunder Awaken (formerly known as Thunder Predator) is a South American eSports organization. Their former name was due to their sponsorship of Acer's Predator brand.
The Thunders after the failure at TI10 completely changed their lineup. Instead, they took a full NoPing e-sports lineup. Though they performed well in the region in 2021, they failed to qualify for TI10. To be honest, the team was really lucky to be sponsored by an even more top-ranked organization, getting a second chance. The Peruvians have taken advantage of this chance so far, winning the first, second and third DPC leagues in South America without giving chance for their competitors.
Quincy Crew: They're in for the Tough Match
Quincy Crew is the winner of the first North American Regional this DPC cycle 2021/22. They were the most outraged about canceling the first major, which was no surprise since they became the strongest team in North America. They should have been preparing for the playoffs in the majors but ended up with another four-team regional showdown. So the players did fail at the regional finals, becoming only the third team in their region to receive no extra DPC points. Whether that resulted from a reluctance to play after the cancellation is possible, but in the second DPC league, the guys blew the replay. With six wins and only one loss, the Quincy Crew was forced into replay, fell, and missed a major.
In the new summer tour, the team was again formed around the first and second playing positions, Quinn and YawaR, joined from Alliance by Brazilian carry LESLÃO, with MSS and Fata as the supports. Quincy Crew is still a formidable force. The team was second in the summer tour, so the American squad will perform for the home audience. The main thing is to have something to show and not to fail miserably.
Major is the only international tournament where Quincy Crew will play before TI11 (if they get there). It's a shame they lost qualification to TSM (2:3) for ESL One Malaysia 2022, but it's important to get DPC points at the Majors to not worry about getting into the Int. If EG and TSM make it to the main tournament of the year, it's hard to imagine who in the North American qualification can give battle to Quincy Crew.
Expert Betting Tips
So far, it's hard to predict the upcoming game. If Thunder Awaken performs in the full squad against Quincy Crew, we will bet on them winning, but we have little faith in that. It's hard to get into the US, so if Darkmago is trying now, it's unlikely anything will change by August 5th. But even with the replacing second-position player, we'll still take chances and believe in a victory for the motivated Peruvians.
