The International 2022
Group Stage
Team Secret vs beastcoast
Format: BO2
15.10.2022 11:00 (UTC+3)
From October 15 to 30, Singapore will host The International 11. At the biggest eSports tournament of the year, twenty teams will battle for the right to raise Aegis over their heads. Teams have been coming to this event throughout the year, participating in regional DPC leagues and majors, so only the strongest representatives from their locations have come to Singapore. But only one group of five players would make their dream come true and write their names in the history of The International tournaments.
Team Secret and beastcoast will meet in the middle of the group series. Will any of the teams be able to get two valuable points? Or will the teams play a draw?

The season didn't go very well for Secret. For the first time in the existence of the organization Puppey did not play in the major during the competitive season. The competition in Europe reached a scale where the experienced Estonian captain could not come up with a strategy to reach the major international tournaments. One day Gaimin Gladiators would surprise him, the next Entity Gaming. Clement decided to look for the keys to success through the decathlons, and only after Resolut1on and W_Zayac reunited did he find his way to a record 11th tournament of The International series through the Last Chance stage.
Many analysts have noted that the key problem of the team is the player at the carry position. In the new roster Roman fits perfectly as the third core and levels out the shortcomings of Team Secret. He's shown his class on Lycan, Beastmaster and Primal Beast in the "last chance" phase, with an average KDA of 6.5 and has deservedly become the "messiah" of the new squad. Crystallis is trying to prove that he is not a one-hero player, having played 11 heroes on 17 maps. In the last week, Team Secret did not lose a series (the only team among the representatives of Last Chance), winning in four, and in another four sharing points with their opponents.
At every TI, there's a team that's made its way through the thorns to its goal. Team Secret had a 5-6 ranking in 2018, the team stopped at No. 4 in 2019, and in 2021 it was in the top 3. Resolut1on had the experience of playing in the grand finals of the biggest tournament of the year in 2016, and in 2017 helped create a sensation for Team Empire. The three patterns inevitably suggest that Puppey should play in the grand finals this year. Given that the team found its game near the end of Last Chance, viewers may believe in a new scenario. And Team Secret will not encounter any problems in the face-off with beastcoast.
Beastcoast can't count on a point
The Peruvian five players boast only one record – this roster has not changed since mid-2019. The players were successful as part of Infamous at TI9, finishing in 7th-8th place, and have been fighting side by side for a trip to the majors since then. The lack of real competition in South America allows them to achieve their goals, but the team always stays close to the top teams at PGL tournaments as well. In both Stockholm and Arlington, beastcoast played poorly in the group, but made it to the top 6 in the bottom set.
The permanent bane against the South Americans should be Wraith King. On him, K1 cut in both 2019 and 2022 with an insane 66% win rate. At the PGL Arlinghton Major 2022, the beastcoast did well to farm experience and gold, on par with Team Spirit. Compared to games three years ago, the team is more organized, no longer making silly mistakes in crucial games. But the problem of meetings in the group remains unsolved.
In their encounter with Team Secret, the Peruvians cannot count on points. First of all, Team Secret have made great progress and can defeat any team. Secondly, the level of competition in the regions is different, and Europe looks much stronger than South America. Finally, in contrast to their opponents, the beastcoast players played their last official meeting two months ago, and the South Americans have yet to feel the stress of playing for results. So while it won't be their first game at The International 11, it will very likely be their first one.
