Team SMG started the summer tour with a loss against BOOM (1:2), although in that cycle of match events, the guys could take credit for this match. But Booms are among the favorites, so the defeat is not so critical against the background of SMG's worsening results in the elite.
Team SMG performed well in the winter, especially if you remember that the team then became the debutant of the elite Asian division. Fourth place at the end of the first round of the league, third place after the regional finals. Yes, that's not a lot of DPC points, but let's remember that this, at the time, was an elite debutant. Therefore, this team can safely be called the strongest elite debutant of this past winter. After their, in my opinion, successful debut in the first division, the guys could not continue in the same spirit, and the SMG team finished the spring second round in sixth place, which did not add points to DPC. Against the backdrop of worsening results, the team replaced position five. The Swede pieliedie moved to SEA, having played not only in Europe but also repeatedly in Asia and America.
Team SMG has at its disposal a few star Malaysian players who could easily strengthen any Southeast Asian tier-1 team but, in the current stack, can not yet get to the result. The MidOne and Moon nicknames carry a lot of weight in the region. The lineup has been playing together for quite some time. The only changes being the arrival of the only Filipino Raging Potato before the first round of the DPC league of the new season, who has experience playing on several TIs and has mostly played for Execration and Neon in the last few years. In June 2022, a new Swedish five pieliedie arrived.
Polaris Esports: Not a good start
Polaris Esports is not doing well... In the first match, this team lost to their opponents from Talon Esports (1:2), but as I expected - not without a struggle. The replacement is still inferior in quality of play, although the guys are trying. And then the patch was changed a little, and lags were constant, so it was not easy to play with the familiar Nigma Galaxy SEA... Again, we lost with a close score of 1:2. The third defeat didn't promise anything good because the team had the easiest opponents at the beginning.
Polaris Esports is a Filipino team that was founded in September 2021. From the start, the team established itself as a militant and serious, for the fourth place in the first division of the spring regional DPC league speaks volumes. Of course, the pack was focused on making it to TI11. They started in Division 2, which they won safely at the end of the first winter round, while also playing in several tournaments.
It has become a good tradition in the Asian region that those from the lower divisions are not lost and enter the top 4 of the Southeast Asian elite. So it was in the winter with SMG, so it happened in the spring with Polaris Esports. The team did not make it to the Majors, which upset the organization, and the bosses decided to strengthen their lineup a little. The Philippine boys will start the summer tour with newcomers: Nevermine moved from Summit Gaming and Tmv - GrindSky Esports. Whether it's a reinforcement or not, the summer tour will show, but the rookies have already shown good results by winning the eleventh season of the BTS tournament with Polaris Esports.
In my opinion, this team will lose a little bit of momentum this summer. Most opponents already take these Filipinos seriously, and that courage from making their debut in the elite division and the surprise effect will wear off. I wouldn't say the guys will be a flight risk, but certainly not a top-four region. SMG had the same slump when they played their second round in the elite.
Expert Betting Tips
A very strange situation, but Polaris Esports continue to believe bookmakers even after two defeats from not the strongest teams. I do not believe in the success of Polaris Esports, so I propose to catch the odds of 2.56 on the victory of Team SMG in the match.
I expect three maps in this confrontation, so it makes sense to bet on Total Over 2.5 maps for 2.01.
A juicy 4.42 odds can be caught if you take a risk and bet on the exact score of 2-1 in favor of Team SMG.
