Team Aster got their summer tour off to a solid start with a 2-0 win over their youth team Aster.Aries, and they should have been favored to take on Vici Gaming for their upset loss this spring, but the Aster players once again managed to lose to their VG opponents 1-2. Against the relaxed PSG.LGD, Aster has a great opportunity to win the summer tour and not have to worry about making it to TI11, although they don't have to worry about it as much as other Chinese teams. It's worth realizing that Team Aster played a feisty debutant a couple of months ago, so their level of play is clear favorites.
Team Aster had a mixed spring campaign, especially against their January successes. The team snatched second place within the first DPC league. In the replay, the team defeated the resistance of the RNG team. Then the boys reinforced the result with a championship at the Intel World Open Beijing, which wasn't an incredible sensation, but the result was still unexpected. After the Chinese New Year, the players began to perform at a relaxed pace - a very poor showing in the DPC regional finals (3rd place out of 4), then not reaching the finals of the OGA Dota PIT Season 6: China (3rd place). All that doesn't change the main point. Team Aster remains one of the main favorites to start the third round of the 2021/22 season, especially in the second regional final.
Team Aster is one of China's youngest teams, formed in late 2018 and already top of their region. Last season was a mixed bag for the boys. If you judge their results within the Chinese region, they are very cool:
Vice-champions of the first DPC league
Champions of the second DPC league
Champions of two seasons of i-League 2021
Not even PSG.LGD can boast such results in China, but on the international scene, Aster played just awful: only 9-12 places in the two majors in Singapore and Kyiv, an unsatisfactory result at TI10 as well - 13-16 place. You can look for excuses, they did not perform in the full squad in Singapore, and at TI10, the whole team suffered from coronavirus, but the fact is that no one makes concessions to the top Chinese team.
Something had to be done, and the organization's bosses made two substitutions in the squad: Ori, who moved from Vici Gaming, will play in position two, and Siamese.C, who spent the last season in the Aster.Aries youth team arrived in the position five.
Dandelion: It's getting harder and harder to surprise
The elite debutant made a lot of noise when they sensationally beat RNG (2-0). In doing so, the boys turned over an opponent that wasn't exactly blustering against them twice too easily. But let's be honest, what chance did the second division champions have of beating the outright champion of China and now the highest-ranked DPC point team in the world? It was clearly a long shot, but the elite debutants had a great first map and beat the best team in the country but could not do better.
Team Dandelion was formed in November 2021 but didn't take part in the DPC season 2021/22 until the spring. After winning the open qualifiers, the boys (Summer, zc, Beyond, 天命, and SJ) earned the right to play in the second Chinese division, where they sensationally won a place in the elite and didn't lose a match!
Overall, the team is young, and there are no outright newcomers. Carry Summer was very good last year in the MagMa team, and the guy nicknamed zc was suspended last season due to his involvement in match-fixing, without that preventing him from returning a year later and almost immediately to the elite division.
Expert Betting Tips
The Team Aster players have had to work on their mistakes after the defeat by VG, and the matches against entrants from the second divisions in this team turn out well, so I suggest betting on the victory of the favorite with a handicap (-1.5) on the maps for 2.25.
In the first map, the teams will get Total Over 46.5 frags for 1.84.
The second map will last longer than 36 minutes; the odds are 1.85.
