OG has put together a pretty interesting lineup for the qualifiers. Ceb is back as captain, and Wisper is proving that he is also a top offlaner in Europe. With wins over Team Secret and D2 Hustlers, the team could have played for first place in ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 yesterday but lost to Entity Gaming with a score of 2-1.
The third map against Fishman Collective made fans nervous. Until the last, OG resisted and did not allow to get to the throne, and Whisper, almost in solo, determined the result on Bristleback. In a meta where the offlaner should be doing a lot of farming, the former DM offlaner looked faded. The Bolivian plays more greedily and is unafraid to push the pace from his line and control half the map. Ceb gets a Phoenix respect ban in the first phase, even though he's not precisely a meth character. This, in turn, unleashes Bzm, who is left with more signature characters and his favorite task of wreaking havoc on the map. And Bozhidar has always done a great job with that.
OG has looked good and alive on all maps. They definitely have room to grow, but even at the current level (taking into account invitations for Gaimim Gladiators to LAN tournaments), they should win occasional qualifiers in Western Europe.
Team Secret
Puppey decided not to test the newcomers and brought MidOne and BOOM back into the lineup. There are a lot of questions about the offlaner again, as the Czech still needs to figure out himself after changing roles. MidOne had a terrible The International 12 and returned to the middle corridor after a few years of wandering through positions and teams.
So far, Team Secret can take out lesser opponents with class, but the same OG had serious problems in the first match. Puppey and company couldn't keep up with the pace, the lineup looked worse, and the newcomers didn't improve the team's play. The captain usually takes something from the Enchantress/Chen pool, hoping to get into early fluff builds, and all the draft picks are lined up for early aggression with no Leyte options. This works against conditional team tickles, but OG has punished it twice.
Crystallis is trying to stand out, producing the last four maps well. But the Dutchman's nerves are always frayed in tough matches, and he makes mistakes on level ground. Therefore, his recent performances are not worth paying attention to. A player like Wisper will be extremely difficult for him to handle on the line.
Expert Betting Tips
OG has rarely surprised fans with results in recent years. When the team is on a roll, they close out the series easily. When they're off, it's just as easy to lose. Compared to Team Secret, they look better; another shutout would be an expected result.
