Natus Vincere pleasantly surprised by winning their group. There was no doubt that this team was able to break into the top round of the playoffs, but the fact that the team would not lose a series and would take a confident top 1 was a pleasant shock. It's important that they don't lose the confidence they gained after the two-day group stage, and in games where nobody goes anywhere, the NaVi players were kings. But in the knockout rounds their performance can drop to the bottom. There shouldn't be any problems with T1 though. The opponent is passable and even more unstable than even the performers in Natus Vincere.
The NaVi players came to Singapore clearly prepared and proved themselves well on the first game day of the Last Chance Qualifier. Two of their three games saw solid wins (over nouns and Tempest) and one game ended in a draw (against Polaris Esports). On the second game day, they played the main favorites of the group, but Team Secret and Vici Gaming could not beat the team, having played in a draw.
Since Natus Vincere's participation at The International 2019, this Ukrainian organization has finally assembled a fighting lineup in Dota 2. Many people were incomprehensible to the appearance of such a player as swedenstrong in the team, but as time has shown and the third summer regional DPC league, at the position of four he has few equals in the region.
At the end of the first winter tour of the regional DPC league, Natus Vincere was the fifth. Then in the spring there was the shortest league, but even there NaVi players could not cling to the top three and settled for 4th-6th place. In the summer, with the arrival of swedenstrong, the team blossomed and sensationally became second in the summer tour, finally getting a slot in the major. In the United States, Natus Vincere did not show any worthwhile play and settled for only 13-14th place at the PGL Arlington Major 2022.
In the TI11 regional qualification the team led by Solo came in third, as many experts expected. What are NaVi's chances of making the Last Chance Qualifier mini-tournament? Before the start of the LCQ, this team was not given a chance, but at the end of the group stage, the community begins to believe in these guys.
T1: bound to have a hard time
Somehow, but we'll still see T1 in the upper bracket. The group stage was not the most ideal for the Asians, alternating between excellent games and disgusting ones. They seemed to beat Xtreme Gaming (2-0), even put up a fight against Virtus.pro, but they gave away one map each to the American teams Infamous and Wildcard Gaming. In the playoffs we should never discount the magic and experience of ana and Topson, but most likely the first wins in the elimination games we will see still in the lower bracket. NaVi are too good now and T1 are too unstable.
Certainly, T1 attract the attention only because of players such as ana and Topson. Recall that it was T1 who was the most successful Asian team at last year's The International 10, finishing the tournament in 7th-8th place, but last year's game is not even close to what the current squad is showing. Last year's squad was doing quite well in the Winter League, until, allegedly according to rumors, they had a disagreement with their main man 23savage, who was replaced by Gabbi. The results after the reshuffle went down...
Summing up all the regional DPC leagues in Southeast Asia, the team won non. In winter they were third in the league and second in the regional finals, in spring they were third but with a bad result in the Swedish major (9-12), and in summer they were fifth in the elite of their region, losing all chances for a direct invitational to TI11. After the summer tour, the only place this team played was the indoor qualification for ESL One Malaysia 2022, where the guys were knocked out by Polaris Esports players (1-2).
Before the September regional qualification, the bosses of the T1 organization realized that they needed a reinforcement and made a high-profile and very risky transfer: the legendary ana came to the position of the main carry, and another two-time TI champion, Topson, now plays as a mid laner for T1.
The new T1 squad finished the qualification in the third place, first losing to Talon Esports in the Winners Final (0-2) and then to Polaris Esports in the Losers Final (1-2). In the Asian region, the new style of T1 at first, under ana and Topson, surprised all the opponents. As soon as they faced more or less strong opponents, all the problems came out, and the team continues to perform unstable.
