Group Stage
Format: BO3
The fifth season of the Chinese OGA Dota PIT kicks off on Saturday, August 07. Elephant and Aster.Aries will open the group stage with a battle that may prove to be entertaining despite the odds.
OGA Dota PIT S5: China is a Chinese Dota 2 tournament that will brighten up August, specifically from 07-16. The tournament will see the eight strongest teams in the region compete for $150,000. The group stage will occur between August 07 and 10, and the play-offs will start on August 11, 2021.
Elephant: The giants must gain momentum
Elephants are starting to regain their confidence at the end of 2020 when this team was first formed. After failing two DPC leagues, the Elephant team still achieved their main objective for the year, to qualify for The International 10. Although they had one slip-up in the top net final, the boys had a solid qualification. Their loss to EHOME made up for it by destroying them in the Grand Final of this mini-tournament for the last slot in the year’s main tournament.
They finished third at the FMWH Dota2 Championship Season 3 tournament in March 2021 while playing without their RedPanda Five. He was kind of sick, but after another DPC league debacle, the team decided to switch sides, with the RedPanda leaving Elephant and the Super joining from RNG at the end of May. The star-studded squad needed an in-game leader, a role RedPanda could not cope with. As for Super, he is a player who has excellent credibility and experience with coach rOtK and the fy four.
Since the 20s of May, the team has not played, and rOtK purposefully prepared this team to qualify for the International. This coach and players are maximalists, and the season is not so happy with the results so that the Elephant can take this tournament very seriously.
The Elephant team has been around for less than a year and has managed to win two major Chinese tournaments: China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 2 and OGA Dota PIT S4: China. They finished in second place in their debut championship, the CDA-FDC Professional Championship, but so far, 2021 has not been a good year for the Chinese star team.
Aster.Aries: The young boys might surprise
The Aster.Aries squad is the youth squad of Team Aster that participates in various TIR-3 tournaments in China. Throughout 2021, they have competed at the Moon Studio New Year Showdown and made it to the FMWH Dota2 Championship Season 3 tournament after qualifying for the two teams that defeated Phoenix 2-0 and 2-1. The young players also put up a good fight against the CDEC team, which, although they lost 1-2, managed to squeeze one map out. These teams are leaders of the second division of the two DPC leagues.
The young guys played great at the FMWH Dota2 Championship Season 3 tournament and made it into the TOP 6. The Aster youth team made it to the second DPC league through open qualifications, confidently taking down several local teams. The Aster.Aries team was the grand opener of the second division, fought even for promotion in the re-match, but still lost and will continue to play in the second division, where they show a good level of play.
In qualifying for The International 10, young Aster finished in the top 5-6, reaching the 3rd round of the losers. Not a bad result, the title of the best youngster in China they deserve.
