Tuesday, June 28, marks the start of the fourth week of play in the third round of the DPC China Regional Dota 2 League. The first match will be played between EHOME and Aster.Aries.
DPC CN 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division I is an online Dota 2 tournament that will run from June 07 to July 15, 2022. The top eight teams from the China region will be competing for $205,000. Aside from the cash prizes, the teams will also fight for four entries to the majors and the crucial DPC points needed to qualify for T11.

After EHOME's sensational 2-1 win over PSG.LGD, at the start, the team's results were far from what they wanted. Three defeats to RNG (1-2), Xtreme Gaming (0-2), and Team Aster (0-2) should not be too bad for morale, but it puts them far away from the main thing: qualifying for the majors. Team Aster.Aries is the perfect chance for EHOME to pick up the points that will lift them out of the relegation zone and last place in the region altogether.
The spring tour for EHOME did not turn out as well as the winter tour. This squad finished fourth in January and was due to play in the majors, but it was canceled at the last minute. In the first regional finals (a Valve tournament instead of the majors), EHOME was predictably the weakest team. In the spring, however, the Chinese squad switched their second position carry by signing Echo to their roster. The switch did not produce a better result for the organization, with EHOME finishing in sixth place at the end of the regional league. I don't think it's the fault of the Chinese understanding that they're out of contention for any international tournament, as the team's actual play has yet to equal that of the grandees.
The team starts the summer tour without substitutes. The team did not take part in the second regional finals, but they have not been without playing practice at all, as, in early May, they took part in the tournament Gamers Without Borders, where teams from China and Asia took part. The team finished in third place at that tournament, but the level of the team was far from tier-1.
EHOME is one of the oldest teams in China, but last season was such a disaster that they would have liked to forget the whole debacle. Throughout 2021, the team has been trying to find their game, changing their manager and the coach. However, they still haven't managed to qualify for TI10, and the management has decided to change their strategy and plans including the squad radically.
For the DPC season 2021/22, the focus will be on young talented players. The backbone of the new EHOME is made up of former Phoenix Gaming players: carry shiro and two supporting players - plAnet and zzq. Phoenix Gaming has performed well, but not for China's elite division. The recruits would have played in the elite division anyway, as they had a great second DPC league season in China's second division in 2021, but coming to EHOME is a breakthrough for the lads, but can they make it to TI11?
Aster.Aries: Trying to score points
The Aster.Aries team is still afloat at the start of the fourth game week. The 2-0 victory over Xtreme Gaming continues to be the only one this summer, but a very important one. Defeats to Team Aster (0-2), RNG (0-2), and PSG.LGD (0-2) is understandable. The Aster youth have now played all the leaders, and it's only now that the lads are beginning to have really important battles within this season in the elite.
Aster.Aries is the youth squad of Team Aster, which compete in various tier-3 tournaments in China. The team has participated regularly in the second division of the Chinese DPC league and at the end of the second spring championship, became the vice-champion of the tournament, earning a ticket to the elite division.
In general, Aster's club vertical is exemplary. Youth squads are commonplace for Chinese teams, but Aster is the most successful youth team in the world. Firstly, they got into the elite, where they will get crucial match experience with the strongest teams in the region and the world. Secondly, they have already started to supply players to the main team. After TI10, Siamese.C has been promoted to the main team and has become a worthy replacement for RedPanda, who, having been kicked out of the main team, is going to fight for a place on the international.
Is it possible to see this team at TI11? It depends on their performance now; after all, there is at least a chance not to drop out. I wouldn't write them off at once because there are several young teams in the elite in the famous tags, and if you consider the big teams' weak motivation, the season can be successful for Aster.Aries.
