12.02.2022, 12:00
Saturday, February 12, will be the second game day of the final round of the first DPC league of the 2021/22 season in South-East Asia. BOOM Esports and T1 will meet in the final of the winners.
DPC SEA 2021/22 Tour 1: Regional Finals is an online Dota 2 tournament that will take place from February 11-13, 2022. This tournament is organized by Valve in each region instead of the majors. A prize of $100,000 and 380 extra Pro Circuit Points will be awarded to the top four teams in the first DPC league.

Southeast Asian off-season has been marked by decisions, with teams swapping carries, and BOOM Esports has not been spared from the changes, with the signing of JaCkky to replace Tino, who has gone inactive. So far, this replacement seems to be for the regional finals, but I feel the team will decide to keep the star Asian carry for the second season of the DPC league. Why was the replacement made in the first place? BOOM's style of play with Tino was no different to what we saw yesterday with JaCkky: a four running around and killing while the carry calmly farms. The real power of JaCkky can be seen against T1 when not the whole game is done by the Filipino four. Tino didn't bail out his team in the regular season against T1 (0-2). That was the only loss for the lads in 2022.
The lack of a major is a blow to motivation. Maybe that was the problem with the team in the battle with T1, who surprisingly easily handled BOOM Esports. But Valve organized regional finals with extra prizes and, most importantly, DPC points, which is important to take away as an asset to get even closer to their main goal of qualifying for TI11. The first opponent in this regional final was clearly below par, no matter how hard Team SMG (2-0) tried, but it's unrealistic for them to beat such "boomers" right now. The game against T1 is extremely important. A win guarantees the DPC team points, which is the most important thing in this mini-tournament. Falling into a loser is risky. You can remain without extra points, staying in step, although these guys are now the main favourites to win.
The BOOM Esports team promoted only the Indonesian squad all last season. While the Indonesians still finished the first DPC league more or less normally, the second one failed and even lost a slot in the elite of the Asian region. But the boys will start the new DPC cycle in the elite tier, thanks to the exclusion for match-fixing of Omega Esports.
The organization has dropped the Indonesian side. The past's failure could not have positively affected all the former BOOM players. They are now a Filipino team whose players have performed well throughout the off-season, even winning their ninth BTS season in SEA.
The only one who has represented this team indefinitely is Indonesian Fbz, who has played in the third position in this team since 2017. The new faces of BOOM Esports are just the ex-neons who wowed the world with their play in the Singapore majors: Yopaj and skem. Tino came from the banned Omega and Tims - from TNC.
T1: An extremely difficult match
Team T1 was another Asian team that decided to change their carry in the January off-season. But there was a rather loud decision of the first position in this team, the star 23savage left, for now inactive, but most likely with the ends. His place has been taken by Gabbi, a Filipino known for his performance in the TNC and, during the last season, in the ambitious Talon project.
The departure of 23savage has been attributed to the unwillingness of the entire team to play with him and may have been the reason for such a failure of the T1 squad in January when play and results abruptly disappeared. Although we shouldn't dismiss the effects of the lack of a major, a sharp drop in motivation to play, but the discord in the T1 team is more plausible, but now much has changed, there has been a replacement, and the regional finals can earn and increase the number of DPC points.
This team is the main favourite in SEA this season, even despite finishing third in the first DPC league. In the first round of the regional final, Fnatic (2-1) were defeated, but the game even upgraded T1 is far from ideal and, with BOOM, will be extremely difficult to fight. However, the winners have the right to make mistakes, and I see T1 in the final of this mini-tournament, but the passage they have to ensure themselves through the losers, not today.
T1 had a great season for themselves last season. They qualified for TI10, made a million dollars, and finished 7-9 in the year's main tournament. All of the organization's top achievements have been in LoL, but there has been some movement in Dota 2.
