The second DPC league of the 2021/22 season in the North American region will continue on Wednesday, April 06. The first match of the day for the elite division will see 4 Zoomers and TSM meet.
DPC NA 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I is an online Dota 2 tournament taking place from March 15 to April 20, 2022. The eight strongest teams in the North American region will compete for $205,000. Unusual to see the team of 4 Zoomers so low in DPC, already in fact this team has no chance to go to the majors, however with 1-3 statistics on meetings not to drop out, and today in the game with TSM tournament position can be even worse, dropping this team to the bottom of the table. The boys from this team were lucky enough to open the spring part of the season with a game against underdogs TOOBASED (2-1), who miraculously stayed in the elite this winter. But the Zoomers gave them even one card, which is a shame for any mid-tier side in the DPC league. Problems in the game? In the game against Quincy Crew (1-2) in the round before last, the boys looked much better, but it wasn’t enough to beat the favourites. But followed by failure against Wildcard Gaming (1-2) and of course Evil Geniuses (0-2), it feels like the worst DPC league for the boys...
4 Zoomers is a mid-tier that dreams of the majors but perpetually finishes DPC leagues in 4th-5th place, away from the majors. In fact, 4 Zoomers is a renowned American team that contends for prizes in every tournament. They only won the 2021 BTS Tournament in their fifth season, but there have been several silver medals, with the boys staying one step away from the main trophy and upsetting their usually stronger counterparts.
Here, too, the renewed squad had already snatched themselves another silver for the tag. This happened in the ninth season of BTS, where the Zoomers were opposed by the renewed Thunder Predator. The final was a close contest, 1-3. On the whole, the team was renewed before the start of the first DPC league, but insignificantly. I will note the arrival of Brazilian Costabile from SG e-sports, otherwise, the American team is represented by the same old guys who, for many years, are invariably associated with 4 Zoomers. The boys finished the first league in the top four, allowing them to take part in the February regional finals, where they lost twice and settled for only a small cash bonus. DPC points were foolish to count on.
Having finished the first round of the 2021/22 DPC cycle in 4th place (league + regional finals), the boys decided not to make any replacements. Traditionally, in the off-season, they played in the BTS series tournament, where they again took the vice-championship.
TSM: Not a single map was lost this spring
TSM never have any problems against opponents from their region who are below their class, which is the majority of the DPC league. In the first game week, they beat Team DogChamp (2-0), who had just made their debut in the elite, then TSM played another underdog, who miraculously saved their elite slot last winter - simply TOOBASED (2-0) and there too they got a passing yard. Last week the stronger outsiders also failed to put up a fight, as they crushed The Cut (2-0) and Wildcard Gaming (2-0). Looking at today’s game 4 Zoomers, we can safely bet on another victory to nil for the favourites.
The TSM team is ex-Undying. To be honest, I really liked the Undying team for their identity. It’s a real team that in a year not just got together and somehow played in their region, but the guys were selected for the TI10 and showed themselves well in some places. The major problem of the pack was the lack of organization, money was the real problem, and I am very glad that such a famous organization as TSM has signed these guys. Usually when a CIS talent “lands on the payroll” the game goes abruptly away, but the current TSM won their regional finals in February, which brought them even closer to qualifying for TI11.
The March lan tournament in the UAE was not a great success for the American squad, but there was some serious competition there too, which is hard to find in your regional league.
Going by the TSM team personalities, the standout on the team is the Czech SabeRLight, who played for the now-disbanded Ninjas in Pyjamas not too long ago. He is no stranger to North America, having been on loan from Quincy Crew in 2019, so knows the region well.
The current TSM was assembled based on the Undying team, which was formed mainly by representatives of the disbanded CR4ZY team: Bryle, MoonMeander and DuBu, note that the latter still has experience as a coach. The Korean player played at The International 2015 as MVP and finished 7th-8th at the tournament at the time.
An interesting carry player in the TSM squad is the Peruvian Timado, who has shown consistent performance. At TI10, there was not much faith in these guys, but they surprised by taking points away from any team. Virtus.pro and T1 could beat the Americans, but OG and Invictus Gaming could not overpower the feisty immortal guys. Immortals even beat their principled opponents from EG, but lost in the first round of the playoffs to the losers. After TI10, the team did not change their line-up but only got organised and they are now TSM.
