NaVi made it to the Esports World Cup 2024 playoffs with a 2-0 win over FURIA Esports in the Opening Stage. The Brazilians gave it their all at Nuke, but at Mirage, Natus Vincere overpowered their opponent, ending the first half with a 12-0 lead. B1ad3 is preparing his team for continued success, but will they triumph in Riyadh again?
The team has had a rough time in the playoffs. Even an enemy would be happy to avoid FaZe in the quarterfinals, but it’s a familiar story for Natus Vincere. In 2024, teams competed against each other in the final of the major, round 12 of ESL Pro League Season 19, and for the semifinals of BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2024. B1ad3 knows how to prepare for the Karrigan team and find their weak spots.
It’s worth noting that Natus Vincere’s game has evolved. They’re no longer relying on individual skills as much as team tasks. If b1t played well with FURIA Esports and scored 1.7 HLTV rating, then jL or iM can stand out in the match with FaZe. Igor always charges wonderfully, and he rarely leaks stats. He always realizes the default shots with AWP, too. Natus Vincere has the perfect balance right now. Each player has a good shooting ability, but they adjust to the overall mechanism to achieve goals. And the helmsman of this team can outplay absolutely any opponent in the world.
FaZe
FaZe had been the top team in CS2 for a long time, but by the start of summer, they started to lose ground a bit. After eight finals in a row and four titles, the Karrigan team started to lose in the semifinals and quarterfinals. The reasons are straightforward: the demanding schedule took a toll on the players, and they needed a break. It’s unlikely that FaZe trained hard in the off-season, focusing instead on rebuilding their strength before the new season.
This might not be the popular opinion, but FaZe could still underperform in the first few tournaments after the off-season and surprise us all. We saw a similar pattern in 2022 when the team dominated every event and won a major, but then its results took a turn for the worse after the break. In the spring of 2023, FaZe finished the Intel Grand Slam and played well over the summer. But after the break, it looked like they were stuck in a rut, never going higher than 9th or 10th place. Then CS2 came out, and FaZe adapted to it perfectly. Karrigan and his team always have a rough patch from July to September or October every year, and it always has to be after the off-season. FaZe played a series with FlyQuest in Riyadh and won 2-0, but the result doesn’t reflect the quality of the match. The Australians had already completed ten rounds on both maps but couldn’t secure a couple more and close out the maps. On Anubis, FaZe even had to play in overtime.
If we’re looking for a pattern, though, it’s the exact opposite. Natus Vincere and FaZe are constantly battling it out in face-to-face meetings. Given that NaVi won the last match, it seems logical that FaZe will come out on top this time.
Expert Betting Tips
We’ve highlighted two very different patterns that have been playing out for a while now. One of them is going to fall after this meeting. FaZe, at the Esports World Cup 2024, was playing much more intensely than Natus Vincere. It seems like Karrigan and his teammates might be headed for another summer slump.
