The champions of the last major PGL Major Antwerp 2022 begin their way to defend the title of the strongest team in the world. In the first stage, karrigan's squad will have to fight with the European stack GamerLegion, which should not cause any problems for the FaZe team.
After the vacation, FaZe does not perform without problems. First, problems arose at the BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2022, where the strongest team in the world lost to teams Heroic and OG, but most importantly, karrigan and his star team made it to the final part of the BLAST Premier. Next, FaZe played in the ESL Pro League Season 16 tournament, where the guys might not even make it out of the group, suddenly losing to G2 with almost no chance. At the time of writing this prediction, FaZe made the EPL playoffs, but you can track their other results yourself. However, no matter how FaZe players finished that tournament, it will have little effect on the qualification for the major, especially in the opening battle with GamerLegion.
If to estimate the cards, FaZe shouldn't test its luck on Mirage, where GamerLegion has the highest win rate, and FaZe themselves don't rank this card too high, but on NuKe and Ancient, their opponents may well get to it. Although whatever FaZe played here, this is the team that should win, and exceptionally confidently.
GamerLegion: an acoR Attempt to Surprise
The GamerLegion team has had success at various times, but only on the tier-2 stage. They had not played anything significant and had not won for a long time, and if before this team was more full of Swedish players, now it is chaos. From the current squad, we can distinguish only the Danish sniper acoR, who played for MOUZ for the last year and a half, and only at the end of summer, he left MOUZ without any serious offers and move to GamerLegion in September. With the Dane Keoz of Belgium (from Team Falcons) and the Polish captain siuhy (from MOUZ NXT) joined the squad.
At the time of writing, the new GamerLegion squad hasn't played in any tournaments yet, and it's hard to evaluate their performance. Still, it's unlikely that this European squad is capable of upsetting the reigning majors.
