Astralis is going through a period of crisis in the autumn. The team has been a disappointment at the RMR qualifiers in Europe, failing to qualify for the IEM Rio Major 2022, failing twice to reach the BLAST Premier: Fall Finals, and being left out of the ESL Pro League Season 16 playoffs. Astralis has allowed unexpected misfires against tier-3 teams at all the above tournaments.
The individual form of the players is on a poor level. Only blameF (1.18) has remained with a positive HLTV rating over the last three months, while the rest are struggling to hit 0.95-0.98. The team has a variety of components in which they perform well over this period. The Astralis' main problem is their lack of adaptation to lesser-named opponents. The Stars could have kept up with the chaotic moves and try to play as well as they do against elite teams.
The team came to Elisa Masters Espoo 2022 with two substitutions. The academy players MistR and kristou will get another chance to prove that they are ready to play for the main squad. The Stars are not quoted as a championship contender because there will be many opponents at the tournament that Astralis is hard to play against by nature.
Complexity
Complexity received a boost in the world rankings because of one success at ESL Pro League Season 16. The American team successfully took advantage of their opponents' mistakes in the group and then were two rounds away from a sensational exit to the quarterfinals. However, already in October, the team failed to qualify for the majors and went down in BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2022 North American.
Over the past three months, Complexity's win rate has been 50%. The team is not known for its stability: it can win confidently against serious opponents such as Natus Vincere and ENCE but then stumble against little-known Sharks. Complexity is more likely to fail at the beginning, but by the middle of the map, it has a comeback, turning the ending into a seesaw. In the RMR qualifiers for the Rio majors, they were good in 4x5 situations (30%), good in trades (23%), and good in the defensive side (60%).
The American team is not quoted at the tournament as a favorite, and the individual level of players makes it impossible to guarantee victory in any of the face-offs against Group B opponents at the tournament.
