Robert Thornton – A Renowned Dartist
Scotland's current World Seniors darts champion is Robert 'Bob' Thornton. Thornton has three major BDO and PDC championships, including the World Masters in 2007, the UK Open in 2012, and the World Grand Prix in 2015. He was also a finalist in the Players Championship Finals in 2009 and the Grand Slam of Darts in 2013. Thornton has also represented both organizations in three World Championship quarter-finals and has been in the Premier League in 2013, 2014, and 2016.
His first success came in 2007 when he won the Central Scotland Open, followed by a big triumph at the World Masters later that year. He completed a remarkable comeback in the final, defeating Darryl Fitton 7-5 after falling behind 5-2.
