Monk qualified for the 2016 UK Open after defeating Stewart Rattray 6-3 and Robert Thornton 6-4 before falling to Phil Taylor 9-5 in the third round. He went one better later that day in the 14th event, reaching the final and losing 51 to Richie Burnett.
