The Trinbago Knight Riders Women could win only one out of their four matches last season, against the Barbados Royals at the Queen's Park Oval. This, however, is against a bowling attack that comes off the back of a very strong performance on a venue that, historically, at least, very much favours bowlers, so it will be a tough ask for the team. Defending champions, they have started off with a win, thanks to an excellent bowling performance.

In that respect, the improvement in their confidence levels is bound to come on the back of the team's two newly inducted star batters, coupled with the inclusion of Shikha Pandey in their bowling attack. Key performances are expected from Anisa Mohammad, who is a needed figure as a bowling all-rounder. Australian left-arm orthodox bowler Jess Jonassen joins the team to strengthen their attack force in bowling.

An upgrade at the Knight Riders Women's arsenal was needed in better bowling performances. Pandey and Jonassen will further stack the attack line-up of the Knight Riders Women. Deandra Dottin will be seen at the number 3 spot, where Meg Lanning is replaced and becomes an opener. Jemimah Rodrigues needs to be well-thought-out, and to strike a balance in the line-up, Meg du Preez can come to the party at number 4.

Meg Lanning, Kycia Knight wk, Deandra Dottin c, Jemimah Rodrigues, Kyshona Knight, Chedean Nation, Zaida James, Samara Ramnath, Anisa Mohammed, Shamilia Connell, Jess Jonassen

The Barbados Royals will now be very keen to make a strong comeback in the next game after they secured a hard-fought victory in the past game. They had secured a victory against the St. Lucia Kings in their recent contest by taking one from the ultimate delivery of the game, for the loss of 9 wickets. The skipper himself, with a dogged unbeaten 61 off 58 deliveries on a very tough pitch, was the leading scorer.

As the preparation for the next match gets underway, Hayley Matthews will bank in on players like Georgia Redmayne, Rashada Williams, and Aaliah Alleyne to come good and make a telling contribution in the top 4 positions. There were the same problems for the Royals Women last year when very few batters in the top order have been consistent. Matthews carries most of the scoring load for the team.

Matthews made such a great contribution in the course of the Women's CPL final when he managed to score a grand 82, and support was provided from number 3 by Rashada Williams with 36 runs. Without the captain leading off, quite often, the batting order of the Barbados Royals is likely to tumble, failures that it quite often does not recover from in the required manner thereafter. In bowling, they have a diversified attack and some key bowlers playing at their best.

Although the batting side lacks and defends the champions, they have quite the bowlers. On the other hand, with Knight Riders' name for innovation this season and a new season, their batting order has a very good top 4 in line, but their bowling cannot be well fortified. To conclude, the Barbados Royals Women are a more well-rounded team and are likely to hold the edge in our match prediction. Hence, our prediction goes to the Barbados Royals.
