After two dominant performances, England faced a significant setback in the 3rd T20 match on Sunday, leading to one of their most substantial defeats in terms of runs in the shortest format of the game.

In an unusual turn of events, all of England's top-order batsmen struggled, resulting in the team losing four wickets with a mere 55 runs on the scoreboard. Nevertheless, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali managed to put up some resistance, helping the team reach a respectable total as they pursued a formidable target of 203 runs.

England boasts a plethora of talented batsmen, including the likes of Johnny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, and Harry Brook, upon whom they will rely for a strong comeback. Shifting focus to the bowling department, Gus Atkinson continued his impressive form, securing two crucial wickets and being the sole bowler who managed to contain the aggressive New Zealand batsmen.

The spinners, on the other hand, conceded over 10 runs per over, while Chris Jordan and Luke Wood struggled to make a significant impact. England views this performance as a minor setback and is eager to return to form in the upcoming matches.

New Zealand appears to have acclimated to the English conditions and delivered an impressive performance to keep their series hopes alive.

Finn Allen, renowned for his aggressive batting style, was in exceptional form, amassing 83 runs from just 53 deliveries. He received valuable support from Glenn Phillips, who also notched up a half-century in a mere 27 balls. While the team undoubtedly celebrates the success of these two batsmen, there remains ample room for improvement among the other batting lineup.

Devon Conway has encountered difficulties thus far, mustering only 14 runs across three innings. Tim Seifert has struggled to convert his starts into substantial scores, and both Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner have been disappointing with the bat.

In the bowling department, Ish Sodhi skillfully exploited the dry conditions in Birmingham, securing three crucial wickets and emerging as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

The seamers also made significant contributions, with Matt Henry, Tim Southee, and Kyle Jamieson collectively accounting for six wickets.

Trent Bridge typically presents a flat and favourable batting surface. Historically, the average first-inning total on this pitch hovers around 165. It provides a decent amount of pace and bounce, particularly advantageous for the fast bowlers, but lacks significant lateral movement. As the game progresses, the ball tends to grip the surface, offering support to the spinners. Crossing the 175-180 run mark can pose challenges for the chasing team.

Expect clear and pleasant weather conditions with temperatures hovering around 20 degrees Celsius. New Zealand staged an impressive comeback in the 3rd ODI and will carry a boost of confidence into the upcoming match. Nevertheless, the home team is well-positioned to capitalize on the conditions and is expected to come out on top. Nevertheless, a closely-contested match is in store. We expect England to win.
