Surrey return to the Kennington Oval, but this time, eyeing the One-Day Cup. Success in the T20s means they will go into the longer one-day format with a good platform. Last year Surrey struggled in many matches, as they were unable to make big scores. Dom Sibley, Ryan Patel, and Rory Burns look to continue their T20 momentum into the upcoming matches.
Laurie Evans seems to be a solid option in the middle order and hence will be a player to watch out for. There are a few options for the opening pair as well; although Sibley and Patel were largely used as the openers last year, Will Jacks is another viable option who can come in place of Patel. The team has a pretty good batting core overall and more so in the middle and lower order.
The squad consists of premier Test players who can be expected to play important innings in building crucial partnerships throughout the cup. Key all-rounders in Jordan Clark and Cameron Steel add depth to the team. The latter also chips in with vital bowling, as he, Amar Virdi, and Conor McKerr bolster Surrey's bowling attack.
Surrey Predicted Lineup
Dominic Sibley (c), Ryan Patel, Rory Burns, Cameron Steel, Jordan Clark, Ben Foakes wk), Conor McKerr, Matt Dunn, Luke Griffiths, Daniel Moriarty, Amar Virdi
Yorkshire form
Yorkshire have laboured in their recent limited-overs campaigns, winning only two of eight games in the last one-day cup season and finishing mid-table, sixth, in the North Group of this season's T19 Blast. They have a fine quotient of talent in the likes of Dawid Malan, James Wharton, Jordan Thompson, but really haven't got it right as a team.
Shan Masood should use his talent to good effect and improve his record in this type of cricket. Middle-order batsmen Matthew Revis and George Hill are likely to contribute significantly. While James Wharton was not regularly picked for the first eleven previously, his recent form indicates he is most likely to get a game this time too. The two wicketkeeper-batsmen add solidity and depth to the Yorkshire middle order.
The addition of Dominic Bess and Ben Coad gave Yorkshire great bowling strength last season, ably supported by all-rounders like George Hill and Matthew Revis, while Jack Shutt, a right-arm off-spin bowler, contributed usefully in the spin department.
Yorkshire Predicted Lineup
Harry Duke (wk), Finlay Bean, Shan Masood (c), George Hill, William Luxton, James Wharton, Matthew Revis, Ben Mike, Dominic Bess, Ben Coad, Jack Shutt
Surrey vs Yorkshire Expert Tips & Prediction
Surrey are in blistering form, if one was to carry on their strong form from the T20 Blast into the current season. Yorkshire—with their talent-laden roster—shall prove to be tough to get past. However, based on the present momentum, Surrey should be able to hold sway over them in this match and therefore are the predicted favorites to win.
