The Netherlands had problems with their batting performance during the tri-series in Kritipur Nepal. Although in one of the matches the chase was 124 against Namibia, in another one they struggled and fell in pursuit of 204 runs, getting bowled out for 179. They finally clinched a win against Nepal, chasing down a target of 173 runs. Therein sits an inconsistency that has plagued them through this stretch and now is going to sit in the pit of their stomachs as they head into the Cricket World Cup League Two. The Netherlands captain will be eyeing better performances from their batters, particularly from the likes of Max ODowd, Michael Levitt, Vikramjit Singh, and Sybrand Engelbrecht, while playing on home turf. There is a strong middle order comprising all-rounders Bas de Leede and skipper Scott Edwards. Teja Nidamanuru, though he looks a promising talent, needs to do something useful lower middle order. They will have to play crucial roles for the Netherlands to secure a victory against a good Canadian bowling attack in the process.
Predicted Lineup for Netherlands
Michael Levitt, Max ODowd, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Bas de Leede, Scott Edwards (c & wk), Teja Nidamanuru, Vikramjit Singh, Noah Croes, Roelof van der Merwe, Aryan Dutt, Vivian Kingma
Canada form
Canada have won four games in a row coming into this one against the Netherlands, but they also had problems in their series in Nepal, where they lost all three ODIs against the home team. The key bowlers, Kaleem Sana, Dillon Heyliger, and skipper Saad Bin Zafar, are in good form and earned critical experience in the GT20 Canada tournament. They are going to be the key for Canada, especially if they can get some early wickets. Netherlands, though, are a team that can surprise teams out of the blue. They have a very good batting lineup, backed by a bowling attack that is quite consistent. Canada will look up to its top batters, Aaron Johnson and Srimantha Wijeyeratne, who did show promise in earlier series but have to hold on to their form. Partnership building via the middle order of Pargat Singh, Navneet Dhaliwal, Harsh Thaker, and, at the lower order, Nicholas Kirton and Shreyas Movva, who have explosive batting approaches that can very quickly raise the scoreboard before the fall of the last wicket. How far they can support and rotate strikes for Canada will be crucial in their success in this match.
Predicted Lineup of Canada
Aaron Johnson, Srimantha Wijeyeratne(wk), Pargat Singh, Navneet Dhaliwal, Harsh Thaker, Nicholas Kirton, Shreyas Movva, Saad Bin Zafar(c), Dillon Heyliger, Ammar Khalid, Kaleem Sana
