With Buttler thus ruled out of the series by his calf injury, some speculation had been rife in the English media about the move slotting in Jamie Overton as his replacement in the batting lineup, but at number seven. Overton, of course, is known for packing some serious heft when it comes to hitting lower down, but he is not very much seen as a direct replacement for Buttler. This was reflected in the game where England was all out for 151 chasing 180 for victory, with Overton and Jofra Archer batting at higher slots than expected. The stand-in skipper Phil Salt and top batsman Liam Livingstone will need to chip in with considerable contributions to make sure that the performance isn't another low-scoring affair. After a poor start from the batsmen, bowlers Archer, Rashid, Livingstone, and Mahmood will once again be leaned upon for England.
England Predicted Lineup
Phil Salt (c) (wk), Will Jacks, Jordan Cox, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Sam Curran, Jamie Overton, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood, Reece Topley
Australia form
Australia meanwhile were at their most aggressive self in white-ball cricket while playing against England in Southampton as the opposition bowling attack ran for cover in the powerplay. The visiting team has an uncanny top seven containing lots of batting stars, which means they just love to launch an attack straightaway from ball one. Matthew Short and Travis Head will be accompanied by Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis as the batsmen in this match. Head's performance in the first T20I, where he hit 12 boundaries and scored a half-century with a strike rate of 250+, gives insight into the attacking approach of the team.
That is not all, as Australia possess some of the best bowlers in Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa, who have been amongst the best in white-ball cricket over the years. Adding to that, Sean Abbott has been the best bowler on this tour, with the overall performance being one of the major reasons behind Australia performing so well at the moment.
Australia Predicted Lineup
Matthew Short, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh (c), Josh Inglis (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Cameron Green, Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood
ENG vs AUS Expert Tips & Prediction
Although England managed to stem the early momentum of Australia in the 1st T20I, they did end up losing the game at the end and never really looked like winning it. We still think that Australia have a much stronger team than England and come into the next game with an expectation of another win for the visiting team. Australia will win the 2nd T20I too.
