Munguia is a former WBO junior middleweight champion (69.9 kg), who had five title defenses. He is still undefeated, has many fights under his belt and his last three wins were early.
Jaime had an opportunity to fight Sergiy Derevyanchenko, but he chose an easier way. His words are very loud, though:
«A matchup with Canelo is something I’m looking towards in the future. But right now he is at a heavier weight class. Once my body is ready to move up, I would certainly like to make that fight. It would be a great fight. I get excited just thinking about it. After Rosado, I want to fight Sergiy Derevyanchenko, and after Derevyanchenko I would love to fight Golovkin or Charlo.»
Munguia is a hard puncher and 30 KOs is a strong result. Still, he often has trouble with agile opponents who shoot fast series and work well on the feet.
In his previous fight, Jaime beat Kamil Szeremeta (21-2-0, 5 KOs) early in the sixth round.
«I'm well prepared and excited because I'm going to fight here in Southern California, there are a lot of my fans there. I can promise you it will be a great fight and a great night for boxing. I know Rosado is a great fighter. He's got a pretty good punch and he's got a lot of experience. I know I have to be careful, but I believe in my skills and I'm sure I'll win.»
Gabriel Rosado: typical gatekeeper
Rosado has already claimed titles twice in his long career, and in June, he knocked out Uzbek super middleweight prospect Bektemir Melikuziev (7-1-0, 6 KOs) in the third round.
No one believed in his chances at the time, but he proved himself to be a pretty smart boxer. Rosado had to kneel in the opening round of the fight, and he said later that it was a tactical trick:
«I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I knew it was going to be tough, but Bektemir is a really powerful guy. I kept trying to catch him in timing, but I missed a punch to the body. No, he didn't shake me. But I had to take time to recover. Otherwise, I wouldn't have won.»
And in the third round, Melikuziev decided it was time to rush to the finish, yawned a horrible right hook and it was all over for him.
Rosado might be stylistically comfortable for Munguia if he starts going bone-to-bone. But, as the fight against Jacobs showed, Gabriel is quite capable of working number two.

For some reason, bookmakers are predicting an early knockout. However, Rosado hasn't lost early since 2014, even though he has fought dangerous punchers. The American has a wealth of experience that will help him against the powerful Mexican. The 35-year-old middleweight also has a pretty good punch, which we saw perfectly in the last fight. He suffered most of his losses by decision, after all.
Rosado's job is to keep Munguia at bay. He has a good jab for that, feeling of the ring, a good right, and a speed advantage. He can totally do it. The bookmakers offer odds of 1.66 on Total Over 8.5. Good prediction, good odds, a good bet.
