The NBA Preseason will wrap up in a couple of days and then we will be awaiting the Regular Season which is just around a week away. This will be another intense season as we will witness the best of the basketball athletes clashing against each other. In their last Preseason games, the San Antonio Spurs will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Spurs have entered the rebuilding phase and it has been a long time already since we have seen a deep Playoffs run from the storied Franchise. They traded DeJounte Murray in the off-season and seems like they are hunting different young talent to build upon. Devin Vassell will enjoy an extended role but it will be interesting to see if they are building around him in long-term or are waiting for a lottery pick to draft a Guard who can carry the hopes forward.
They did draft Jeremy Sochan, who is an incredible talent but may not the be the centrepiece. Keldon Johnson is a key piece too and his ability to hit the outside shot is going to be huge in the near future. But you never know the near future in the NBA, where you can see a talent like DeJounte Murray traded away in exchange for next-to-nothing. It is clear that the Spurs are now stacking up picks and this can be a long season for their fans.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Thunder has already done the picking up draft picks drill for some time now. They have been highly reliant upon Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the last two seasons but his health has been a concern. Josh Giddey brings all-around flavor but the team will need more offensive output from the talented Australian. They drafted Jalen Williams who has shown some promising spark during Preseason but Regular Season will be a different beast.
Lu Dort is a dependable wing but he can end up being a trade piece in the future to bring in some big talent. The frontline has Jeremiah Earl-Robinson and Darius Bazley, the former being a strong defender while the latter can develop into a 15 PPG and 7-10 RPG type of player. Tre Mann has showcased brilliant three-point shooting while the team has rated Aleksej Pokusevski’s talent at a high clip.

These two are young teams that are looking to build something in long-term, however, in terms of defense, the stars of the Thunder seems to be shining brighter. For the near future, the Spurs seem to be looking to land a big-name that changes the course of the Franchise while the Thunder has slowly built a strong young team. For this game, hey, it is preseason, what can I say. I’d pick Thunder to win nonetheless.
