San Antonio Spurs vs Detroit Pistons Prediction: Improved but vulnerable Detroit takes on wayward Spurs

The NBA midseason is almost upon us or well, to be honest, it is already here. With the Regular Season at the halfway stage, the next major stop seems to be the trade deadline. The All-Star Weekend is fun and games but the real deal for the fans largely is the trade deadline which can cause an immense roster shuffle. But before the rumor mill swirls around, we have to look at the game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs come into this game after suffering yet another close loss as the New York Knicks beat them 117:114 despite Keldon Johnson’s 26 points. This was the third straight loss for the Spurs and two of their last losses have been a possession or so. However, the overall picture is bleak the Spurs have just 12 wins and have piled up 26 losses. Their defense is perhaps the worst in the league and their offense can be sky-high in one game and lose steam in the next one. Because of that, San Antonio is probably going to end up with a high draft pick, riding that Victor Wembayama train like most struggling teams.

Detroit Pistons

The Pistons come into this game after forcing one of the biggest upsets this season, beating the Warriors 122:119 away from home as red-hot Bojan Bogdanovic bagged 29 points. They have won three of their five games, which is by far their best five-game window in the season and two of these wins have been away from home. However multiple long-losing streaks mean that they have won just 11 and lost 30 games, meaning they are also heading to the draft. Bojan Bogdanovic has been the leading scorer and the only one who scores 20+ points consistently. Killian Hayes has filled in well in absence of Cade Cunningham.

Expert Betting Tips

The Spurs have had trouble winning and so have the Pistons but the home-floor advantage can boost the San Antonio effort. However, they can’t take the Pistons lightly which has upped their defense and has moved well on the offensive end. Moving well is always the prototype for the Greg Popovich-led squads so we can be in for a high-scoring affair. I expected the Spurs to win and my scoreline prediction is 124:118 in their favor.
